Very good Italian. Need to try 2nd bottle to decide if case worthy.

Originally wrote that I thought it was "drinkable but past its prime," which elicited a couple of comments (which you see below) that since it was the latest release, if anything it needed more years to come out completely. I personally did not detect any latent complexity that might achieve that, given that it's already been 13 years, but perhaps the takeaway is, if possible, to avoid drinking it now, and try 2022 and beyond. I'll try to do so with my one remaining bottle, although I probably won't be looking to buy more. My feeling is that if I've already paid the premium to have the producer store the bottle for me for 13 years, I don't want to wait another 5 on the chance that it may improve!

And I think I have another bottle that I'll try holding onto for a few years ...

Don't know if it was just this bottle, but the Bosconia continues to disappoint compared to the flagship Tondonia vineyard. (Wine Spectator 94 points?! I don't think so ...). Wouldn't give it more than 75, but marking it defective (even though it wasn't very obviously so) since I gave the previous bottle 88.

1/9/2018 10:36:00 AM - Hello Stern Owl: As I alluded, I had reviewed this wine a few months ago and rated it 88. At the time I described it as "Refined and mellow, as you might expect with a 12-year-old wine. Other than that, it's not particularly remarkable, although it's reasonably priced (US $30+) for what it is."

This bottle (from the same purchase), on the other hand, I'd have given only a 75, as it was neither refined nor mellow. Specifically, I found it essentially lacking anything interesting in flavour, colour (metaphorically), notes of anything interesting, just had a neutral "generic" taste (my companion was less generous ...). But it was drinkable, in the sense that a $10 bottle of OK wine can be drinkable, so not so flawed as to pour down the drain. But I chose to mark it "flawed" since my palate hasn't changed THAT much in 2 months and I assume that bottle suffered some trauma at some point. But even in my original 88-point review I noted that I preferred the Tondonia for $10-15 more.
