This was just…wow. Reserved with initial notes and closed off. With a 3.5 hour bottle decant, this turned out to be the most remarkable wine I have had in a very long time. Its evolution reminded me of the 05 Baron de Pichon but this sang in the most amazing way. The nose showed menthol, cedar, and dark black fruits. The color was inky with bricking at the rim. The palate shows juicy dark black fruits (mostly seared blackberry), licorice, milky dark chocolate, a finish that goes forever, and truly “SILKY” tannins. The finish goes forever. My heart melts that this is my only bottle.

My first try of the Tondonia Reserva Bianco. Wow. What a wine.

It needs a little air, but then it’s a constantly shifting taste profile. Toasted marshmallow, honeysuckle, dried candied apricot, peaches, dried fig, roasted nuts. Lightning acidity, slightly waxy texture. Long finish with some saltiness and white fig.

It was best on the first and last two nights. The second night it went through this weird phase where it smelled and tasted like tequila.

Worth every penny of the release price, but secondary market prices are bonkers.

Tasted this at Tunglok Heen during a wine dinner with my wine mates. Theme of the evening: Wines from the Year of the Dragon.

This wine showed perfectly why Chateau Montrose is one of the heavyweights and representatives of the St-Estephe region. Displayed a beautiful youthful charm that showcased attractiveness and her adorable side. Can't take your eyes (and hands) off the glass. Beautifully and elegantly balanced with nice showing of fruits, alcohol, body and acidity, without showing off too much of any single element. Pretty shoulders, something which she is showing off proudly.

Peckish, stylish and a very very lovely wine.

This needed a bit of air to get going, but then it was quite generous with aromas of ripe, golden apples and lychee fruit, marzipan and vanilla. The palate matches up, but there is a nice line of acidity that came across as lemon pith to me. The wine has a lovely, rich texture and a long finish.

Opened for dinner with our very good friends that we haven’t had a proper sit-down with in quite a long time.

The wine was just gorgeous from the moment I poured it until the end of the evening. It was quite floral with loads of ripe pear, verging on tropical, dipped in honey; on the palate there is a fair amount of minerality, good acidity to balance out the richness and sweet character of the fruit (though it is dry). Long finish. Superb quality, and I wouldn’t doubt that this can be held for quite a few years, yet.

See prior notes. Just chiming in to lament that current release price for this wine is now $50.
