Light garnet, spicy nose with touch of barnyard, delicious fruit and long finish seems to have a frizzante touch of youth Has had bimodal reviews If you like wines that conjure up a vision of chickens in the dooryard of a winery where wine is made with love then you will love this wonderful wine.

Splendid. No tasting notes for me to crib from. What is wrong with you trackers of the cellar? My strength is freeloading off others. I am a parasite by profession and by my age you come to recognise what you are good at. What I am not good at is sounding like I have a clue when I am out front.

But age does confer some benefits other than gout, dementia, chronic flatulence and a tendency to tell the same story over and over. Have internet connection, will travel. Decanter gave this vintage of this wine a high stiffy award. I concur.

Yet another of the things of which I know less than I should is Soave. I have enjoyed it when I have had it and often thought that I should explore it more, but then other things (porn and YouTube mostly) have intervened. So, you can imagine my unbridled joy when the chance came to sample this well blinged up winery.

My experience of Soave had led me to expect a rather more flinty, restrained creature, so imagine my surprise when I got a texturally intriguing, deep wine, with layers of exuberant fruit. There is some minerality to finish but this wine is damned succulent.

This is a wine made in stainless steel to keep things pure and the flavours to me are stone fruit (apricot?), lemon and almond. One review speaks of Cantaloupe and I can see that, but I will stick with Apricot - on a spectrum of rich, almost unctuous but still with some cut.

This is not a cheap wine of its type in Oz, but it is a joy that still engages the mind. It also damned near conquered the public lavatory characters of an octopus salad that I had (seafood really is revolting), when I felt guilty for not giving my decrepit body some seafood - despite its loathsome smell and taste it is said to be good for you.

Bright cherry and thyme on the nose. All that plus some oak spice on the palate. Strong acid, medium body and finish. Knocked it out of the park with pizza, and a bargain to boot! Great job!

Balanced acid, earth mid palate and delicious. Exactly what I was looking for. Moderate fruit.

Great with pasta, even a carbonara
