Sadly my last bottle as it was absolutely brilliant drinking.

Decanted maybe an hour as there was a minimal amount of sediment. Classic aged Bordeaux on the nose, with cassis, wet leaves and leather reflecting the tertiary aspects. Having said that, there was still plenty of fruit left - this is in perfect balance for drinking!

Nose slightly better than palate but that was nit-picking.

Bloody lovely!

Very young. Obviously pinot dominant but still lithe and elegant.

Opened to celebrate the end of a long couple of weeks.

The fifth of the case and I wish I had another as these seem to be improving! Deep golden colour and extraordinary nose with so much going on. Slight sherry note, marzipan, yeast and tropical fruits. Lovely little bubbles and long length. Genuinely outstanding wine.

Liverpool title celebrations (London): Deep amber/golden colour with the contents of the bottle almost matching the script on the bottle. VA immediately apparent on the nose along with marmalade and ripe peaches. Viscous in the mouth and lovely length.

Missing the acidity I was expecting, but everything else was wonderful.

Liverpool title celebrations (London): Sentimental bottle as this was purchased in a mixed case from the Australian Wine Society with my very first pay check after university. If only I knew then what I know now - I'd have purchased a truckload!

Explosive Grange nose of sweet vanilla oak and black fruits. Structure and acidy holding everything in place still and it has silky-fine tannins. Unbelievably long length.

This really deserved more time in the decanter (we only gave it an hour on account of its age). Score is from the first glasses not the final one. Will really have to go some to have a better bottle this year.

Liverpool title celebrations (London): Initial glass was too cold and we should probably have decanted as the final glass from the bottle was the best.

Very soft bubbles upon pouring which ceased within minutes of sitting in the glass. Definite hint of sherry on both the nose and palate. Toasted almonds. Not the longest length. Overall a lovely champagne, but I recall this being far better 20 years ago when I last had it.

Liverpool title celebrations (London): performed better than the last bottle drunk back in 2015, but it didn't reach the heights expected.

Classic Bordeaux on the nose and palate with blackberry, cigar and cedar. Very decent length.

Last of a 6-pack drunk over the last couple of years.

This is a very good, but not great wine which reflects the vintage conditions. A little lighter & less complex than other vintages with a shorter finish. Would drink now and let other vintages such as ‘09 or ‘10 age a little longer.

Opened at 5 and then decanted a couple of hours before consumption.

Classic Pauillac with black currants, toasted oak, depth and tannin structure. Elegant, yet still with power. Long length.

Lovely wine which provides a degree of drinking pleasure now, but nowhere near its peak. Significant upside from here.

Still so young, but I had another '15 on the go and it's always interesting to compare wines.

Completely opaque. Very primary with a wall of what I would call typical Australian flavours but a very enjoyable freshness to this wine given the lack of new oak. Will age for years, but conversely, is also enjoyable now. Very good length.

Could have done with some time in the decanter as the last glass was the best. Reductive, and closed, lovely acidity and decent length. Citrus fruits and peaches. This is a big step up from the Macon-Verze which has been frustratingly disappointing in this vintage with maybe a 50% hit rate for premox.

It has to be said upfront, this is a genuinely outstanding wine. Still young enough to exhibit primary fruits but the oak and tannins are perfectly integrated and the long finish is silky smooth. In a great spot now, but further aging should bring about further tertiary characteristics.

This is in a fantastic place at the moment as it enters the beginning of a long window. Still loads of primary fruit flavours, but there's hints of the 20 years of development as this is a smooth and polished wine with perfectly integrated tannins.

Nose has loads of the Grange vanilla/coconut and black fruits. Full bodied and has intensity, but no sign of over-extraction or the boundaries having been pushed in the winery. Lovely wine for drinking now and the next 10/15 years I would guess.

Drank immediately after the 2010 regular bottling, and this was immediately darker and more powerful with a different aromatic profile going towards confected strawberries and spices. Wonderful balance and still years to go.

The last of a case of 6 of these and they will be missed.

Very light in colour, but with a power that belies that appearance.
Very balanced, lots of red fruits, streak of volcanic minerality and good length.

Dark/opaque in colour.

Still a very young wine. Opulent, ripe fruits but with a core of acidity. Not my usual style of wine (I prefer the refinement that cooler-climate shirazes generally bring) but this was, unequivocally, an exceptional bottle of wine. Drunk over the course of the evening and I was wishing for more after finishing the last glass. Full-bodied with a long-length.

Our only bottle from a visit to the winery, but would definitely buy again, if only to see how this ages as there was nothing to suggest that it will fall over any time soon like some other high-alcohol, over-oaked points-chasing messes that I have had the misfortune of trying in the past...

Decanted for a couple of hours and drunk with sirloin done on the BBQ.

Still a wine that comes across far younger than its actual age. On the nose predominantly cassis with early stages of tertiary development. Smooth and refined tannins, medium-plus body and medium-plus length.

This is a wine of very good quality with much potential upside still. If I had any more bottles I would be letting them rest at least a couple of years.

My first of these, and I suspect that it could have done with more than 90 minutes in a decanter as the last glass a couple of hours after dinner was the best of them.

The nose and palate were both a bit muddled (not sure if this is because it is too young, or was showing the effects of travel in the days before being opened), but this was one of the most silky-smooth and voluptuous wines I've had the pleasure of consuming in a long while. Incredible length, and so utterly more-ish, but I'm unlikely to have another given the price.

Drunk from magnum. Opened 90 minutes before consumption, but the wine had also been transported across Europe the day before and so hadn't been given time to settle.

Stupendous nose of black berries, leather and pepper. The wine is now completely integrated (even in this format), with medium acidity and a lovely freshness. Silky-smooth finish and medium-plus length. Complete wine and a good shout for being amongst the top handful of wines I've consumed this year.

The last of three bottles of this and it was the best of them yet - think this is just beginning to hit the early part of its window.

Nose is now very honeyed, with lemons and limes in the background. Long length. hard to believe this is the entry level wine. Still crazy zippy acidity and unbelievable freshness for a white of this age. Genuinely insane value!

The darkest and most powerful of the two 2009 contrada's I've drunk (the other being the Contrada R).

Full-bodied without being cloying or overly alcoholic, with a lovely streak of acidity provided tension and backbone. Lovely nose of predominantly red fruits and medium plus length. Still needs time in a decanter before drinking.
