8/19/2015 - Diama Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis wine is perplexing and deceptive in a good way. It's a very pretty clear ruby color in the glass, but the longer it sits it builds in body and spice. Along with a earthy spicy finish comes the tannic astringency; superfine tannins. The only negative is that it lacks a complex nose, just a subdued earthiness and cut strawberries. This is not your extracted fruit bomb, but holy crap this is tasty. The apt description is a Vosne Romanee Grenache. |

4/6/2015 - Diama Likes this wine: 92 pointsDownright delicious and multidimensional. The fruit profile is really sexy with peach, candied pineapple and meyer lemon complimented by flint stone and the right amount of oak. While the acid backbone is there and never harsh, as one would expect it is much more noticeable as the wine reaches room temp. Great sipping, but find some bold food to keep up with this chard. Fantastic right now. |

3/26/2015 - Diama Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis bottle caught me by surprise. It's alive! The colour was a pale ruby brown with a salmon rim. There was some separation of tannin from the liquid and given the light color, the fine tannins were quite visible. This was quite pronounced as we worked through the bottle. On the nose there was some rose petal lurking, but mostly damp wood and underbrush. On the palate there was little fruit besides fading cherry, more wood, almost stemmy, and some nice complimentary spice. This still had some grip and good acid! A real treat to drink a burgundy with some age and see that the balance is still very much there. |

Practically no acid, but still quite delicious as a sipping wine showing mostly white peach, vanilla and some faint citrus peel. The mouthfeel was quite round at first but not flabby at all given the lack of acid. The finish was short and abrupt. Drink up if you still have some! |

3/24/2015 - Diama Likes this wine: 89 pointsA big wine that was tasty and interesting, but not quite elegant at age 11. Throwing a lot of sediment, the color was a lovely deep ruby red. The nose revealed violets, horse stable, and ended in washed linen. The mouthfeel was round with low acid through the finish. The tannins were very fine here with subtle dark berries, green vegetal notes and oak spice on the palate. The wine finished with bitter blackberry core/seeds and some menthol. This wine could last a few more years and I'm curious to see if it might improve. |

3/20/2015 - Diama Likes this wine: 90 pointsRound and explosive is the best way to describe this Sauv Blanc. Meyer Lemon, Pear, Muskmelon, and a touch of grass jump from the glass. On the palate, the wine coats and lingers with good stone fruit and acidity. As the wine reached room temperature there was even some minerality that started to show, yet very little herbaceousness. A very solid SB that should be sought out. |

3/20/2015 - Diama Likes this wine: 89 pointsStill very closed and refuses to reveal herself. Tannins are high for a CA Grenache, but are quite fine and very much in line with those from Spain and CdP. What sets this wine apart is the extremely restrained fruit due to the cool climate origins in Bennett Valley. There is good acidity, but instead of bright fruit there is a lot of secondary tobacco, wood and spice with some sour cherry. With four hours of patience, I started to get some garrigue, blood and menthol. This should be better integrated in 2-3 years even if the fruit doesn't come to the party. |

2005 Stolpman Syrah HilltopsSanta Ynez Valley more |
12/28/2014 - Diama Likes this wine: 92 pointsA good nose of peppery meat and espresso with light white floral aromatics. Dark berry and grilled meat on the palate with a solid 45 second finish. The wine is extremely well integrated at this stage with ultrafine tannins. Possibly my best qpr purchase ever for a syrah. |
