2015 François Lumpp Givry 1er Cru Le Pied du Clou

Wow! I was quite skeptical of this producer because of the price point. Served blind, I'd have almost certainly called Premier Cru Gevrey. Rich, intense fruit, serious complexity and a long finish. One of the best red Burgundies I've had all year. Glad to have discovered a new producer of this caliber.

2015 Régis Bouvier Marsannay Les Longeroies Vieilles Vignes

Pinot Noir more

4/4 bottles I've drunk of this have had very leaky corks. That said, none were oxidized.

A big, ripe Marsannay that is night and day in comparison to the same producer's 2015 Bourgogne 'En Montre Cul'. Not oaky, but quite dark, ripe and almost tannic. Notes of black tea, citrus, and dark fruits. This is quite good honestly for the price, and I enjoyed it. But, with the cork problem, I wouldn't want to wait very long to drink this one.

Still, a good Burgundy for the price.

Exciting to see Kermit Lynch expanding his Sicily portfolio.

At first taste was underwhelmed by its timid, light fruit. Brought a bottle home to give it its due and glad I did.

Gorgeous soaring berry fruit on the nose, with ample freshness and only moderate tannic grip. Just a bit of spicy minerals on the finish. This is one of the most enjoyable Sicilian reds I've come across, and its not far from quality in my eyes from Occhipinti's wines. An estate to watch.

In a great place despite its youth. Pretty, slightly-macerated cherries, a bit of smoke and an earthy edge. Will surely age, but no shame to drink young, either. Great value.

Superb value in white Burgundy. Zingy citrus, searing minerals, and just a hint of richness on the end. For $30, I don't think you can do much better.

Stupendous vintage for Breton. Bright, lively, high-toned, and mineral. Delicious.

Dark purple color. Vibrant, blood orange-heavy nose with a bit of spice. Almost reminded me of Syrah on the palate with more spicy, dark notes. A bit tangy, and in need of 6-12 months I think, but with great potential.

Very good–this vintage benefits from some extra depth and concentration, yet with more freshness than the Morgon. With a little more, or a different type, of funk than usual, this has reliably shown incredibly well on day 2 bottle after bottle.

Indeed, the acidity was fairly prominent in front of the fruit immediately upon opening here. Still tasty, just a bit out of balance.

With just a half an our of air or so, drunk at cellar temp, everything comes together for a slightly mature, lighter expression with secondary notes along with bright red fruits. Really delicious and classic. I wouldn't pay the current release price around $90, but for $60 this is a winner.

Quite tight and true to the bold 2015 vintage. Basically red and blackberry herbal tea. Not my ideal vintage but delicious with air.

Crazy tight upon opening. After an hour or so open, a beautiful nose of dark plum, sweet red cherry, and a bit of leather emerged. Still a bit tart on the palate, but really true and delicious. Light owing to the vintage, but quite pure. I'd definitely wait on this for a while.

My first JP Thévenet experience. For me, based on this bottling, this domaine is somewhere between Guy Breton and Foillard–all good!

Light, funky peppery nose with tart and sweet red raspberry and cherry fruit on the nose. Quite light on the palate, which I love about '13s, with the nose pretty accurately reflected. Slightly sweet, slightly tart finish with medium plus acid. This was a bit more tart on day 2, so I wouldn't be inclined to hold this, but it's so drinkable and delicious, it provides a welcome contrast to the meaty '15s.

Was pumped to see this on a wine list at a restaurant and for a reasonable price!

Beautifully Burgundian nose of restrained fruit and quite a bit of earth. On the lighter side and true to the vintage but with everything nicely balanced. Really lovely.

Intensely aromatic, spicy nose. Full, silky and remarkably open on the palate. Plenty of earth, spice, and whole-cluster character. Absolutely beautiful. If I had more, I don't know how I'd keep my hands off it.

I normally love this wine for its lightness and funkiness. And this is both light and funky, but the finish is a bit weird. It could have been a bad bottle and I love Breton, but I prefer Lapierre's Raisins Gaulois to this in 2015.

Incredibly earthy nose with underbrush and very dark fruit. Similar on the palate with earthy dark cherry and black currant. Very slightly tart on the finish but really drinking great now. I was suspicious of this domaine but no more. Incredible value at $35.

As an aside I drank a bottle of this after tasting an amazing bottle of '14 Domaine Dujac Morey villages and was concerned this would be forgotten but not so! Highly recommended.

Found this, I think because of someone's mistake, for $25.

Quite a bit of volatile acidity in my bottles. Otherwise, a bit more expressive than the straight '14 Morgon. Cedar, wild fruits, super juicy here. Really well balanced and delicious. Would I pay $50 for a bottle over the regular Morgon? No, but this is delicious as expected.

Gorgeous, expressive nose. Spicy, earthy, pinot notes on the nose. On the palate, sweet cherry, cassis, earth, and spice. My first experience with this producer but, man, for under $30 this is the best red Burgundy I've had in a long while. Deep, complex, and juicy.

Bright, ripe, earthy nose. Followed with dark cherries, forest floor and a tart finish. Drinking well now. If you're sensitive to the "bitterness" of '11 this may bother you but otherwise it's quite tasty.

First tasted a bottle at room temperature that had been open for at least 24 hours and the wine was showing a powerful herbaceous quality that was reminiscent of either tomato leaf or dill. This is definitely lighter than the Py as well.

Next tasted chilled at around 52 degrees on a hot day, and the dill character was not as prominent, instead seeming more like the traditional peppery character I find in most Foillard. Like the '13 Py, this is much more reserved than the '14s. True to the vintage for sure and really very delicious.

Lush, ripe, velvety, and sexy. Much, much, much more appealing than the 2014 at this stage anyway--and I love the '14. This is just pure delicious gamay. And, despite the relatively high alcohol (13.5), this is just as great as ever. Fantastic.
