2015 François Lumpp Givry 1er Cru Le Pied du ClouPinot Noir more |
11/19/2018 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRWow! I was quite skeptical of this producer because of the price point. Served blind, I'd have almost certainly called Premier Cru Gevrey. Rich, intense fruit, serious complexity and a long finish. One of the best red Burgundies I've had all year. Glad to have discovered a new producer of this caliber. |

4/4/2018 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NR4/4 bottles I've drunk of this have had very leaky corks. That said, none were oxidized. |

12/14/2017 - Cj802 wrote: NRIn a great place despite its youth. Pretty, slightly-macerated cherries, a bit of smoke and an earthy edge. Will surely age, but no shame to drink young, either. Great value. |

2015 Domaine Larue Saint-Aubin BlancChardonnay more |
11/4/2017 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRSuperb value in white Burgundy. Zingy citrus, searing minerals, and just a hint of richness on the end. For $30, I don't think you can do much better. |

2016 Guy Breton Morgon Vieilles VignesGamay more |
11/3/2017 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRStupendous vintage for Breton. Bright, lively, high-toned, and mineral. Delicious. |

2016 Domaine de la Voute des Crozes Côte de BrouillyGamay more |
8/3/2017 - Cj802 wrote: NRDark purple color. Vibrant, blood orange-heavy nose with a bit of spice. Almost reminded me of Syrah on the palate with more spicy, dark notes. A bit tangy, and in need of 6-12 months I think, but with great potential. |

2015 Marcel Lapierre Raisins GauloisVin de France Gamay more |
6/29/2017 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRVery good–this vintage benefits from some extra depth and concentration, yet with more freshness than the Morgon. With a little more, or a different type, of funk than usual, this has reliably shown incredibly well on day 2 bottle after bottle. |

2010 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges Vieilles VignesPinot Noir more |
5/12/2017 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRIndeed, the acidity was fairly prominent in front of the fruit immediately upon opening here. Still tasty, just a bit out of balance. |

5/2/2017 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRHedonistically delicious. |

2015 Jean-Paul Thevenet Morgon Vieilles VignesGamay more |
4/17/2017 - Cj802 wrote: NRQuite tight and true to the bold 2015 vintage. Basically red and blackberry herbal tea. Not my ideal vintage but delicious with air. |

2013 Montevertine Toscana IGTSangiovese Blend, Sangiovese more |
12/25/2016 - Cj802 wrote: NRCrazy tight upon opening. After an hour or so open, a beautiful nose of dark plum, sweet red cherry, and a bit of leather emerged. Still a bit tart on the palate, but really true and delicious. Light owing to the vintage, but quite pure. I'd definitely wait on this for a while. |

12/20/2016 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRMy first JP Thévenet experience. For me, based on this bottling, this domaine is somewhere between Guy Breton and Foillard–all good! |

2014 Domaine Dujac Morey St. DenisPinot Noir more |
10/29/2016 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRIntensely aromatic, spicy nose. Full, silky and remarkably open on the palate. Plenty of earth, spice, and whole-cluster character. Absolutely beautiful. If I had more, I don't know how I'd keep my hands off it. |

2015 Guy Breton Beaujolais-Villages Cuvée MarylouGamay more |
10/29/2016 - Cj802 wrote: NRI normally love this wine for its lightness and funkiness. And this is both light and funky, but the finish is a bit weird. It could have been a bad bottle and I love Breton, but I prefer Lapierre's Raisins Gaulois to this in 2015. |

2012 Domaine Michel Juillot Mercurey 1er Cru Les Champs MartinsPinot Noir more |
10/29/2016 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRIncredibly earthy nose with underbrush and very dark fruit. Similar on the palate with earthy dark cherry and black currant. Very slightly tart on the finish but really drinking great now. I was suspicious of this domaine but no more. Incredible value at $35. |

10/7/2016 - Cj802 wrote: NRGorgeous, expressive nose. Spicy, earthy, pinot notes on the nose. On the palate, sweet cherry, cassis, earth, and spice. My first experience with this producer but, man, for under $30 this is the best red Burgundy I've had in a long while. Deep, complex, and juicy. |

2014 Domaine Pierre Guillemot BourgognePinot Noir more |
10/7/2016 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRGorgeous as usual. Ethereal tart cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and earth. The epitome of light, transparent Burgundy. Delicious and under appreciated. |

2011 Forey Père et Fils Morey St. DenisPinot Noir more |
9/18/2016 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRBright, ripe, earthy nose. Followed with dark cherries, forest floor and a tart finish. Drinking well now. If you're sensitive to the "bitterness" of '11 this may bother you but otherwise it's quite tasty. |

2013 Jean Foillard Morgon Les Charmes Eponym'Gamay more |
8/14/2016 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRFirst tasted a bottle at room temperature that had been open for at least 24 hours and the wine was showing a powerful herbaceous quality that was reminiscent of either tomato leaf or dill. This is definitely lighter than the Py as well. |

2015 Marcel Lapierre MorgonGamay more |
7/31/2016 - Cj802 Likes this wine: NRLush, ripe, velvety, and sexy. Much, much, much more appealing than the 2014 at this stage anyway--and I love the '14. This is just pure delicious gamay. And, despite the relatively high alcohol (13.5), this is just as great as ever. Fantastic. |
