1/28/2024 - festiva wrote: 96 pointsI hated this wine at first. Initially it was harsh, gritty, and hot with alcohol. A long 4-5 hour decant changed all that. The air turned it into an absolutely beautiful wine. Elegant and silky, with deep layers of fruit, spice, and flowers. Everything seemed to come together in perfect proportion. Hold this one unless you’re prepared to give it a many-hour decant |

12/30/2023 - festiva Likes this wine: 93 pointsBig, lush red. There’s a lot going on here. Not sure what the blend is (Cabernet, Syrah, maybe some Merlot?), but this was really interesting. Improved greatly with air. The minerality of this wine lifted the thick dark fruits beautifully. Loved the soft, silky tannins and long finish. Very well made wine |

8/23/2023 - festiva Likes this wine: 91 pointsLast of 6 purchased from Garagiste way back when. I have to disagree with the prior posts stating this wine is on the decline. I found this bottle to be full of fruit and life. Tannins we’re still present, but have definitely faded since my last bottle 2 years ago. Secondary flavors and aromas just starting to emerge. If I had more, I’d love to try again in 2-3 years. Great QPR |

8/12/2023 - festiva Likes this wine: 93 pointsBased on the prior notes, I suppose it all depends on storage conditions. My bottle was perfect and in the zone. Yes, it’s 16% alcohol and you can definitely feel the heat, but no one pops a CdP looking for 12%. Surprisingly, the alcohol was very well integrated. It’s big, plush, and round. Tannins very much resolved |

5/5/2023 - festiva Likes this wine: 93 pointsFrom 375 ml. Loved this. Elegant and well balanced with just enough acidity to balance the bright fruit and minerals, and flowers. One of the best '14 Chablis I've opened so far. Somewhat short finish, but fabulous juice for the price. I don't believe it's peaked - delicious now but should improve with time. Drink or hold. |

4/19/2023 - festiva Likes this wine: 92 pointsExcellent CA cab from a great year. The fruit has faded a bit, but the secondary flavors and aromas of sage, wood, and spices step in nicely. Thick but not heavy. Tannins mostly resolved, but this had a 3 hr decant. Slightly out of balance: the alcohol definitely makes its presence felt. Long, powerful finish Reminds me of Rudd’s Oakville Cab from the early 2000’s. Solid value. Last of 6 bottles purchased at Napa Wine Co back in 2005 for $30/each. Properly stored, this could last another 10+ years without worry. |

9/13/2020 - festiva wrote: NRWhat an interesting wine!. Being from the Loire, I expected this to be dark, brooding and more merlot-like. Instead, this is lighter in weight than a burgundy and minimal alcohol. A core of sappy fruit framed by herbs and spices. Excellent pairing with bbq chickened |

4/26/2020 - festiva Likes this wine: 92 pointsPopped this for our anniversary. First time I've had a bottle from this house. In very good shape for being 24 years old. Rich and bready, with a healthy dose of sherry and spice. A little on the acidic and bitter side at first, but opened up after about 20 mins in the glass to reveal a very mellow wine. Excellent with food. For the price, a great QPR |

4/11/2020 - festiva Likes this wine: 88 pointsSurprisingly good QPR. Garagiste mystery case wine. More chardonnay-like than the rieslings I'm used to drinking. Solid, mineral-driven white with a really pleasant nose of flowers, spice. Lovely gold color. A little slate on the nose with a hint of flint. Lime on the nose and palette. Not overly complex and has a rather short finish, but still really enjoyable. Light and pleasant. |

1/27/2020 - festiva Likes this wine: 96 pointsSTUNNING bottle. Balanced, subtle, very complex. Ultra-fine mousse. Just the perfect amount of maderization. Long, long finish... This is great by itself, but even better with food. Can hold for many more years if stored well... |

1/27/2020 - festiva wrote: 89 pointsVery good QPR - $16 from Garagiste back in 2015. Medium bodied, elegant Barbaresco. Decanted an hour or so before drinking with a big plate of chicken marsala. Bright acidity, no signs of heat, fruity with well integrated tannins. Got a nice little dose of roses and tar on the nose. Drink up or hold a few more years.. |

6/22/2019 - festiva wrote: 95 pointsFabulously rich and sexy wine. Unctuous. Could smell it from across the room. Bright blue and black fruits laces with cocoa and spice. Tannins are still very present. Long finish I’ll try another in 5+ years, when hopefully some of the secondary and tertiary flavors should begin to emerge. |

11/22/2018 - festiva wrote: NRMaybe this bottle had been the victim of poor storage, but it seemed way past it’s prime. Madeira-like, nutty, oxidative nose. The taste of the wine wasn’t much fresher, as it was more nutty than fruity. Some Chardonnays can age, some can’t. This one appears to fall in the latter camp |
