2019 Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valleymore |
12/11/2023 - Tahlequahdave1972 Likes this wine: 90 pointsPNP and consumed over two hours. Deep violet in the glass. Aromas of dark fruit and a touch of violets. Black fruits, vanilla and cola on the palate. Medium structure/mouthfeel that was supple initially but grew bolder with time. Reasonably balanced, velvety and refined with a medium length finish. Not a top tiered Napa cab, but respectable and enjoyable all the same! |

2013 Heitz Cellar Cabernet SauvignonNapa Valley more |
12/1/2023 - Tahlequahdave1972 Likes this wine: 92 pointsPNP and consumed over two days with little change. Was struck by the "freshness" of the wine, even at 10 years old. Aromas of red and blue fruits carried over into the flavor profile while adding hints of mushroom, forest floor and pencil lead. Actually, pretty complex for an entry level cab. Balanced and resolved with sufficient structure to go a few more years. Medium length finish that was pleasing to the palate. |

2016 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon SignatureNapa Valley more |
11/24/2023 - Tahlequahdave1972 Likes this wine: 93 pointsPNP and consumed over two hours. Lovely cab from start to finish. No formal notes but best described as balanced and resolved, bordering on exquisite, with just enough tannic structure remaining to provide body and complexity. Red/blue fruits predominate, with a pleasant hint of sweetness at the end. In the prime drinking window for my personal tastes. Wow! |

2017 Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valleymore |
11/17/2023 - Tahlequahdave1972 Likes this wine: 91 pointsDecanted for an hour and consumed over the following two hours. Initial hint of vanilla was replaced with a nice wine that was integrated and well-balanced. Some supporting tannins remain in the background, but the wine is showing to be at the peak drinking window currently. Price "creep" for this entry level Napa Cab makes the QPR neutral or even negative IMHO. |

2018 Chimney Rock Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap Districtmore |
11/6/2023 - Tahlequahdave1972 Likes this wine: 92 pointsPNP for dinner guests. Garnet red in the glass. Aromas of vanilla, earth and red fruit which follows to the flavor profile along with toasted bread, coconut and blue fruit undertones. Rich, thick mouthfeel yet with a silky, velvety texture and a pleasing, medium-length finish. Not yet fully resolved with more aging time needed to bring this wine into the optimum drinking window. So representative of the Stags Leap District appellation, this wine is a pleasure to drink. |

Beautifully balanced, smooth and approachable with flavors of blue fruits, cola, cassis, mushrooms and fruit cake with just a hint of sweetness. Medium bodied with nice, soft tannins and enough complexity to keep interest thru the long, satisfying finish. Nice, really wonderful wine. Yum! |

3/24/2023 - Tahlequahdave1972 Likes this wine: 94 pointsApproximately 4 years since my last tasting of this wine and time surely had a great influence on the drinking quality of this cuvee. Dark, almost black in the glass. Aromas of dark fruits, toasted bread, earth and rose pedals. Dark chocolate, graphite, mocha, plum, black licorice and a little Rutherford dust also. Complex, ever changing, balanced, full-bodied and elegant. Velvety smooth with just the right amount of tannin in support. Long lasting and enjoyable finish. An excellent cabernet ready for pouring! |

Medium mouthfeel and firm texture. Approachable and reasonably balanced for such a "young" Napa cab. Short finish. Nothing memorable but still a decent QPR. |
