Chenin blanc (48%), Riesling (18%) and Muscat de Frontignan (30%) with a few percent of other varieties
Coppery gold this was extremely unctuous and sweet, tasting of raisins but without any redeeming acidity. Out of condition but while the other sample was fresher it still cloyed. CHP 81pts

Rated 5 stars in Platter's 2009 edition. Finely blends 8 separately vinified varieties, some oaked. Sauvignon Blanc (40%: Chardonnay 20%: Viognier 15%) dominates with subtle tinned pea notes, but seamless, harmonious. Silkily elegant, with rare sense of completeness. Should mature good few years.

Excellent but not great. Yet. Sugar-acid ratio is way over 3...
Refined enough, well extracted, possibly built to last. Must buy 1 more for long haul testing. Cost is so small and potential award is sooo alluring :-)

In this varietal dominated world here was a wine with real difference - the Semillon and Sauvignon just had an edge of dominance and provided lovely depth complexity and a good long finish = drank beautifully with Chinese food

Pale gold to medium straw colour. Very clear, unoxidised look. Nose has light green gooseberry, herb character and light lemon and grapefruit peel. Nose replicated in the taste, adding gravelly minerality, light nuttiness rounded by a very light creamy touch. Light body, high acid, slightly oily mouthfeel, long finish. Excellent and probably still developing.

Further to my Note of Nov 9, '21: More golden with some loss of richness now--less fruit, more lean, though no detectable change with 24h (vacuvin). Still enjoyable but time to drink up.

Further to my Note of Sept. 21, '21: This continues to please as an everyday SA CB, although she notes that it seems to be fading more after 24h. If that's true, it's minor in my opinion. This wine has changed my thinking about SA CB--now one of my favorites for everyday white.

Further to my Note of March 12 '21: This is #5, but I bought 3 more because of the QPR. This continues to please. Mature gold color but nose and flavor are rich and satisfying, and it holds at least 24h. Good complement to poultry dishes (we had grilled duck breast), light-sauce pastas, and oily fish. Expect to carry on for at least 1-2 years.

Bought a 6b case for 5/b from a local independent eclectic shop; this is #2. Medium gold; honeysuckle, some peach; white stone fruits, honeysuckle, some honey, good mouthfeel; some persistence. Delicious with plenty of life left. Glad to have more, no hurry. Stored vertically (screwcap) in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation (see earlier posts for my 4-category, non-point rating system): This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

This wine deserves props; it is a 5yr old white, bought for $15, that tastes fresh as a daisy! According to the label, it is a blend of Chenin vinified 4 ways: new oak, neutral oak, stainless steel, and carbonic maceration. Is this really necessary? Who knows?!?! At least they're trying! The wine, out of the bottle, is very nice. But it really blossoms on day 2 with beautiful warm citrus (stewed orange and baked grapefruit) and flowers flowers flowers. A nice core of grassy acidity that I really like. Chenin blanc is a varietal that gets all sorts of wine-nerd love, but that I am honestly not particularly fond of. But I have to say that this wine is exceedingly well done and quite enjoyable. Buy it if you find it!

Orange blossom, Meyer lemon, white peach with a rounded, long-lasting finish of vanilla and spice. Delicious! The bottle says it could be cellared for 7-10 years!

A blend of Barbera (45%), Sangiovese (45%) and Nebbiolo (10%). Tasted blind.

Moderately translucent and quite youthful cherry red color with a hint of purple hue. Quite open and aromatic nose with fragrant aromas of sweet oak spice, ripe black cherries, sweet red cherries, some tarry smoke tones, a little bit of mocha and a developed hint of dusty earth. The wine is ripe, somewhat sweet-toned and quite oak-driven, yet fresh, firm and more medium-bodied than full-bodied on the palate. There are flavors of ripe strawberries, sweet toasty oak, peppery spice, some jammy blackberry tones, a little bit of sweet maraschino cherry, light mocha tones and a hint of sour cherry bitterness. The wine is high in acidity with moderately firm and grippy tannins. The finish is spicy, moderately tannic and quite oaky with flavors of ripe strawberries, chocolatey oak, some sweet black cherries, a little bit of toasty oak spice, a hint of peppery character and a touch of sour cherry bitterness.

A surprisingly bright, structured and balanced new world red from Italian varieties. However, what the wine has in firm structure, it lacks in finesse - the fruit feels a bit too sweet and even slightly jammy at times and the oak influence is way too pronounced and dominant. However, it is notable that the wine shows relatively little age now, at 6 years of age, so I guess it is possible that the wine might gain some elegance with additional aging? If the fruit drops its sweeter edge and the oak integrates better with the remaining fruit, there's always a possibility. Although not a wine for my taste, I must admit that this was a relatively good and enjoyable wine for the style. I had no way of guessing this wine correctly. Priced according to its quality at 30€.

Complex, interesting nose with old wood, black berries, undergrowth, a bit heady. Full, silky, very fruity, concentrated. Blueberry, blackberry, raspberry yoghurt, extremely polished, very long, very juicy, great concentration and acidity, but still rather one-dimensional, though superfine in that dimension. A bit abrupt finish, quite long, moderately spicy aftertaste and just a bit cloying despite the acidity.

Amazing colour of slightly used motor oil. On the nose: raisin, fig, orange rind, vanilla and coconut. On the palate: fig, raisin, dark roast coffee, coconut, vanilla, walnut, and caramelized brown sugar. Very silky, unctous mouthfeel with a long, smooth finish. Paired with fresh peach crumble. Incredible experience!
