Was expecting a lot given the producer and the vintage but this was a real disappointment for me.

Nose showing pretty black currants, some anise and brambly note as well. In the mouth the initial attack is good but then this just absolutely falls off a cliff. Thin and hot on the finish with little fruit.

Not sure if this is gone or perhaps just in a dumb phase. I don't have any more but if I did, I'd hold a good deal longer.

Hugely extracted nose of red candy, Twizzlers and milk chocolate. On the palate more candy, cherry cola and chocolate but with some spice and tannin to back things up. Quite a long finish. If you enjoy an extracted style you will love this. Bonus point for Heitz pouring tastings of this free of charge.

Interesting little wine. Reminds me of a Rioja crossed with a southern Rhone.

Very earthy and brambly on the nose but some good fruit and smoky vanilla as well. Medium bodied with short finish.

Popped and poured-- Initially pretty tight on the nose but slowly develops into notes of sour cherries and rose petals.

On the palate, this wine is medium bodied but full of tannins. Theres is good length with a lot of blood orange flavors on the mid palate. This blood orange is nice at first but becomes pretty bitter on the finish in a somewhat unpleasant way. Some noticeable heat going on here as well. Bottle says 15.5% which is apparent.

Night two, much softer and more integrated but a lot of the vibrancy is lost.

I am at a loss on how to score this wine because it is clearly incredibly well made and in some ways delicious, but is also dissapointingly disjointed and angular. Perhaps some bottle age will help this out.

Bosc pear and gala apples on the nose.

Light bodied but with a very nice acidic structure that shows surprising length. Some almond notes on the tail end as well add to the interest.

Flavor profile is slightly similar to a white burg except without the minerality.

My first lagrein. big animalistic nose, not so much barnyard, more like the smell of cleaning wild game… Very interesting. On the palate this wine is very big and coating in mouthfeel but is surprisingly soft in structure. Not a huge amount of either tannin or acid. Flavor profile is very savory, black olives, stewed tomatoes but also a sour cherry note coming through at the tail end. This wine speaks to a lot of things that I look for in red wine but is just lacking that bit of charisma to send it over the top for me.

Although acid was pretty good, i was expecting a little more nuance to this. Cant complain too much for how well it went down with grilled snapper with lemon and capers. Might just need a couple more years to open up a bit.

Nice aromatics tending toward stone fruits. Yellow and red aromas of peaches and nectarines. Maybe some white flowers as well.

Not incredibly acidic but pretty mouth filling, a bit creamy.

As compared to the tuscan vernaccia and verdiccio I had just tasted, this is much more fruit driven and less minerally.

A round tasting wine although no more than mid bodied. Apricot/peach/nectarine in flavor.

Very Fresh nose, I get green pears and a little citrus on top.

There is a nice minerality/salinity to this as well. Good acidity and focus. Went down very quickly.

So many California Chardonnays are proudly touted as "Burgundian" while very few come close to that description in terms of style. This Heitz bottle however comes across quite genuinely Burgundian to me! With just a touch of Cali charm in there as well.

Nose is restrained but shows green melon, pineapple, golden apples, minerality and yes a touch, just a touch of oak. The palate follows a similar trajectory. This wine offers fruit, minerality, and surprisingly high acid as well. Good Chardonnay here with some longevity potential as well.

Clear, ruby color.

A little tight on the nose yielding classic black cherry and some woodsy notes as well.

Fresh, bright and suple as well. Medium acid, medium to light tannin and medium to light in body. Very focused and enjoyable if a bit one dimensional.

Very nice, complex white wine.

Rich golden color, nose of apple cider-- spicy golden apples, some smokey cashews and hazelnuts as well.

Very crunchy texture, lively and acidic. A little bit tannic. Medium to full bodied. Needs food for sure.

Wanted to bring in a pinot grigio at a Trentino-Alto Adige tasting so I picked this up hoping that at $18, it might bring some interesting notes.

On the nose, a little of that piney lemon lime thing that I normally associate with pinot grigio. In the mouth the wine is light and lacking in acid. Nothing more than a watered down lemon lime.

I don't normally write reviews of wines I don't like but this one actually pissed me off. This wine doesn't taste offensively bad, but for $18 should be completely avoided. Tastes like what might be served at a 5pm-7pm open bar at a chain hotel conference reception.

Palate shows real finesse. This is not your average dolcetto! Very dense and lengthy with a dusty cherry note that goes on for a very ong time on the finish.

Only 6 years old but the wine looks older to me. A decidedly tawny like appearance.

Big leather on the nose upfront with some dark cherries and blackberries. Maybe some chili pepper in there too.

By day three, still drinking very well. Quite silky while maintaining very solid grip to the palate. Medium weight and medium acid.

Wonderful, decadent wine.

Rich flavors of orange blossom, crem brûlée, butter scotch, honey comb, honey suckle. There is an oxadative, sherry like component here as well.

Reveals a little something different with each whiff and taste. Acidity seems to be perfectly in balance.

Dark ruby in color.

Nose is of dark loamy earth, tobacco, coffee grounds, and dark fruit.

Wine is medium bodied and shows exceptional elegance with moderate tannins and acidic structure.

Very intriguing wine. Somewhat like a Sardinian Cannonou. I understand the Cote Rotie comparison as well.

Bright salinity on the nose.

This smells and tastes like flat champagne (in the best way possible). Very yeasty, leesy, funky. Lots of skin contact. Slightly tannic and pretty acidic. Right up my alley.

This is in a very good place right now. Lime leaf and orange blossoms. Great pairing for a simple stir fry. Acidity is crackling. I’m sure this will go several more years but alas... my last bottle.

Not sure the exact grape percentage but this is mostly nebbiolo with from freisa as well. It certainly reads nebbiolo in color with a clear, somewhat lightish appearance that is tending toward brownish orange hues of red.

On the nose; tar and coffee with a bit of red fruit and some faint violets as well.

Beautifully balanced and poised in the mouth. Acidic and bright while somehow also savory. With chewy tannins on the back end, and just enough tart red cherry fruit.

A great bottle of wine for not a lot of money.
