10/4/2015 - dynedain wrote: 79 pointsThe wine has high acidity. It smells like sherry, red currant and alcohol/hot. The body is medium. The wine finishes medium. It tastes like cranberry, tobacco, black currant (cassis) and alcohol/hot. The wine looks inky colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. The wine has juicy texture. |

10/10/2015 - Mike Kopanski wrote: 87 pointsThey did a nice job of capturing the flavor nuances of the thin skinned Zinfandel grape. Super ripe 15.5% alcohol grapes with a lot more acid than you would expect at this level. Barely a hint of sweetness. Definitely some noticeable and welcome oak influence. Even a hint of tannin. A decent value for $18 in our market. |

12/26/2016 - VeniceCalif wrote: 80 pointsThis wine actually boasts on the label of using flash detente, so let's see how it is. Decanted 30 mins. ahead and sampled over the next 90 mins. Very deep garnet color, almost inky. Very faint nose of black fruits with a bit of spice. Tart and a bit chewy on the palate, some berry and woody-vanilla flavors, with rustic acidity. The finish is drying with greenish but light tannins. So what do we have here? A wine with deep color, almost no nose and a tart finish. Flash detente is supposed to allow you to harvest earlier and eliminate the pyrazines, but this wine suffers in the nose and acid balance. Flash Detente is the opposite of low-intervention winemaking. There are far better Lodi Zins out there for $20. |

1/1/2017 - Woodbridge Brad Likes this wine: 86 pointsTons of color and decent flavor but the alcohol is hot. Nice execution of a style that is not my favorite. Used in a excellent lamb daube and added a bit of 12% rose to make the end of the bottle drinkable for me. |

I love Zins especially as a weekday wine. this one is okay but not appreciably better the large production CA Zins out there for less. some upfront fruit upon tasting but the heat took away the aromas. drink it up, not one for aging. |

Still has fig aroma and raisin flavors, but now the flavors are enhanced by blueberry jam and spice on the finish, with a touch of honey. I am conflicted on what to advise. This is my last bottle. If you have multiple bottles, my suggestion would be to try one soon, drinking a glass immediately, after a half hour, and after 1 hour. Let me knows what that tells you - I just drank my last bottle. |

11/17/2018 - slywka7 Likes this wine: 92 pointsSeymour Wine Club Meeting 11/17/18 (Home of David Zanowiak): Tasted blind. Aromas of blackberry, currant, cherry and earth. Flavors of blackberry, mint, currant and touch of iron. Ends with a 25+ second finish with currant notes. I again was wrong as I had this pegged as a Sonoma Cabernet. Was a bit surprised when it was a Zin, but I have had some trouble with some funkier Zins in the past. Was surprised to see this was 15.5% alcohol because it wasn't heavy or hot at all. I gave this 92 points and it was the wine of the night. |

5/25/2020 - macliii Likes this wine: 87 pointsNot much going on on the nose. Dark purple and a little hot when first opened, but mellowed an hour later. In the mouth flavors of raisin, jammy fruit with good acidity. I chose specifically to drink with American Chop Suey dinner (pasta with tomato soup and sautéed onions and Hamburg) and it went nicely with this. Not a long finish but drinking well still. Recommend 30-60 minute decent still at this point. |

9/8/2021 - djrobsd Likes this wine: 90 pointsWhat can you do differently with Zin? Age it in concrete of course! This is a delicious fruit bomb from Lodi that is a little less hot then some of their counterparts but still big at 15.5 alcohol. My recommendation is to open it the day before you want to drink it for a few hours… then cork back on and in the fridge. Did that and it was smooth as butter. |
