7/4/2008 - Billyray wrote: 90 pointsThis was our first try of this Malbec from Vina Cabos. As with others from this producer, we were not disapointed in this offering. Decanted for some time before serving this offered deep color, big fruit in the nose that carried on to the palate with jam and berry. |

1/12/2008 - Billyray wrote: 88 pointsThis was our 2nd try for "Pillar Box" with better results than our 12/6/07 tasting. Great fruit up front in the nose with lots of plum and oak that carries through on the palate only after it breaths a bit. Let the alcohol "flash off" a while before drinking. Very soft finish after setting for some time. |

1/10/2008 - Billyray wrote: 89 pointsDelicate nose of berry, very smooth on the palate with a light finish. Some bitterness fresh out of the bottle. We tasted it a little too soon after opening and pouring. Smoothed out later in the evening. Very good QPR for this Shiraz. |

1/21/2008 - Billyray wrote: 87 pointsPlum and Blackberry in the nose, present up front and lingering on the palate. Nice long finish with plenty of tannin. Merlot/Cab Franc/and Cab Sauv. make this a very enjoyable Bordeaux at a nice $$ (under $20). Will pick up more at this QPR. Nice paring with Rack of Lamb. |

2006 Louis Latour Pinot Noir Bourgognemore |
8/27/2008 - Billyray wrote: flawedThis had to be a spoiled bottle or this is some really bad Pinot. Bitter and watery right out of the bottle. Little or no fruit. Tried to enjoy some very nice Alaska salmon but this particular pinot did not compliment this meal at all. Poured it down the drain next morning!! |

2005 Ramos Pinto Douro AdrianoRed Blend more |
2/7/2008 - Billyray wrote: 88 pointsHard to beat the QPR for this fine douro from Ramos Pinto. Fruity nose of berry and plum stays on the palate and carries right through to a very light finish finish. The 2003 has a little more body but this one drinks well now and will likely be even better later. |

1/1/2008 - Billyray wrote: 88 pointsI'm never disapointed with this great Douro blend. We poured this during New Years dinner following a Chianti and it went fast among the group. Good nose of plum and berries and firm texture on the palate. Finishes well. |

2005 Aveleda Douro CharambaRed Blend more |
1/24/2008 - Billyray wrote: 85 pointsThis is a great every day Douro blend that is really easy to enjoy. Rich deep purple color with an up front nose of earth and fruit. Lots of tannin on the palate and a very soft texture with a mild brief finish. This is a great QPR for that wine to serve with BBQ...burgers and the like. |

2005 Vinos Sin-Ley Monastrell La Mancha M3more |
12/15/2007 - Billyray wrote: 88 pointsA soft nose of cherries & berry, gives way to a light, crisp body that retains its fruit charateristics. Not the least bit heavy but has a long finish you would expect from someting bigger. Surprised to see it was only 13% Alcohol. This was our first of this varietal (Monestrell). We only had one M3 in the cellar but will picking up more at this QPR. Viva! Vinos Sin-Lay |

5/7/2008 - Billyray wrote: 82 pointsThis is a fun wine for the QPR. Clear ruby color, Cherry-like, not too fruity and tanic on the palate. Little finish but not harsh in the mouth. Drinks well and is a nice warm up to something more full bodied......and the Name......amost worth the price. |

7/4/2008 - Billyray wrote: 88 pointsVery nice PG from good old Trader Joe's. Moving my earlier rating up a few notches for this very light white. Loads of Apple in the nose. Light on the palate but with enough fruit there to make it a very refreshing summer sipper. If your a PG fan, this is a pretty good QPR . |

1/2/2008 - Billyray wrote: 84 pointsThis was brought as a gift a while back so I broke it out to have with some left over Prime Rib. What a nice Cab this turned out to be. Fairly nondiscript nose of plum, oak and berry but a good mouth-feel on the palate, with a good balance of fruit and tannin and a nice finish as well. Polished if off the next evening with some Lamb Chops and it held up very well. |
