Never had a Petit Verdot before, but I was very impressed. Nicely aromatic with a palate of dark fruit and oak. Tannins were big but smooth. Just as good on day 2 and 3.

Very impressive. Smooth and elegant at this point. Great balance and mature flavours mixed with red fruit. This is exceptional. Would not have guessed that it is from Chile.

Nice acidity, and a seductive, smoky character. The dark fruit is rich but not heavy or too sweet. Great balance and a fantastic value.

I've had several of these now (this is my fourth) but have neglected to leave notes since the first. It's been consistently tasty every time. A big wine, but the powerful acidity goes a long way to cutting through the fat. Love the smoky, smoldering dark berry and plum fruit. There's a stony mineral/loamy earth note that settles in at the end.

Drank this at our monthly Poker game. Really a wonderful wine. It is funny how our poker game has morphed from beer to wine lately as my buddies start to look forward to what wine I will bring each time.

Amazing wine, fruit forward and chocate overtones, fulll body and balance oak presence. Great finish. Maybe a bit young, but still a wow. Was a special buy for our golf club. Not a regular listing through LCBO in Ontario.

Color: Opaque violet
Smell: Vanilla, coffee, granite, and a melange of dark and blue fruits.
Taste: Vanilla, dark chocolate covered espresso beans, blueberry pie, blackberry, and black currant.
Overall: Medium-full body, Medium acidity, and intense fruit in an international style that reminds me a bit of the Spanish wine "Clio" that costs almost 3 times this wine...Not my favorite style...but I'd gladly drink this again and still find it impressive.

Cherry fruit forward, touch of smoke and pepper on the finish, good balance overall. A bit flabby, but not too much so. Had it before dinner (paella with chorizo) and during. Was better during, but could not quite hold up to the spiciness of the dish. Overall, not bad.

Not sure what to think of this. There is so much candy and licorice in nose and mouth. Yet it is balanced with tannins and minerals that somehow keeps this floating. Very good wine that will be interesting to follow over the next few years.

A solid wine for the price. Dark purple in color. Aromas of mixed berries. Not as fruit forward as would be expected but still an abundance. Tannins are strong but not overwhelming. Easy finish. Next to llast bottle in a case purchased in '08. Enjoyed as much as the first. Will look to buy again as an "every day wine" as the rest of my cellar ages.

2021 Bodega y Viñedos Korta Grosse Mérille Selección Especial

Curico Valley more

3/20/2023 - Wine Diplomats Likes this wine: 89 points

100% Grosse Merille. This used to be called Verdot Chileno before it was discovered to be Grosse Merille, an old and almost extinct French variety. Grosse Merille most likely came to Chile in the 19th century. Since French wines were/are often blends, many unknown vines came over that were mixed with more well-known ones. Grosse Merille has almost disappeared in Chile too. In 2014, there were less than 4 hectares with a bit in Maule, Colchagua and Maipo. They mistakened it for Petit Verdot at first, so that’s how it got its name Verdot Chileno.

Korta uses manual harvest, cold maceration and native yeasts. They only use stainless steel to keep the wine.

Light, transparent strawberry red color with strawberry and roses on the nose with a touch of spicy herbal notes. Not sure how much they destemmed. The palate is light textured and mostly fruity and simple with something slightly bitter and spicy on the back end. The acid is a medium-low. Overall, a light, fruity and floral wine. Better served slightly chilled.

This awesomely cool labeled Syrah is spicy and peppery with cassis, blackberry and coffee ... there's a nice balance of fruit to acidity and a wonderfully robust black pepper finish. There's even a touch of dried dark fruit that adds another layer and keeps you coming back.

2019 Bodega y Viñedos Korta Tre Sauvignon

Lontué Valley White Blend more

8/5/2020 - Wine Diplomats wrote: 88 points

Unique blend of 47% Sauvignon Blanc, 33% Sauvignon Gris and 20% Sauvignon Vert. Hence, the name “Tre Sauvignon.” Sauvignon Vert used to be widely planted in Chile and mistaken for Sauvignon Blanc. It’s since been replaced by actual Sauvignon Blanc. In Italy, Sauvignon Vert is known as Friulano. Sauvignon Gris on the other hand, is often blended with Sauvignon Blanc in Chile and Bordeaux. The color is yellow with a tinge of green. It’s a little lighter in color than most Sauvignon Blanc here. The nose is of citrus and herbal notes. On the palate, there’s ripe pear, a little citrus and minerality. Overall, there’s a less acidity and more sweetness than an average Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. It lacks intensity and length, but I won’t complain given the $5 price tag here in Chile.
