Light blood-red in the glass this wine has a nose that makes me want to take off all my clothes and leap screaming into a New York subway car. How can a wine smell this good? An amazing perfume wafts from the glass with a gorgeous vanilla caramel aspect that befits its age, and an altogether astonishing red and tropical fruit character of youth that ends up more floral (don't ask me what kind of flowers) than fruity in my final assessment. In the mouth it has (unbelievably) incredible acid balance, perfect poise and a texture that reinforces the earlier decision to get buck naked with this wine. Seriously. I'd kick Angelina Jolie out of my bed to drink it. Redcurrant, raspberry, a garrigue-like medley of fresh herbs, and exotic spices mark a few of the high points of the aria this wine sings as it moves down the tongue. Its finish is a 90 second soprano-belted high note that seems like it SHOULD break the glass, it is so clear and pure. There aren't enough good expletives available to say how awesome this wine is. I only wish I could afford to buy some of it. I'll have to settle for never pissing off the friend I know who has a couple more bottles in the futile hopes that I might be around one day when he opens another.

Wow, what a fascinating adventure old Chardonnay is. Golden color, like an old Sauternes, the nose is actually somewhat fresh and the initial mouthfeel is green apples, but after about 10 seconds in the mouth this intense buttery richness floods the mouth, really an extrodinary experience.

Edit: after 30 minutes in the glass I’m upping this from 94-96 - simply extrodinary.

2nd edit: I have to take this to 100 - it kept getting better through the night, and today then 1 glass I had left in the bottle is just beyond extraordinary - it's a 3 minute journey of flavor after every sip.

Very ripe Pinot nose. Palate shows more lean but definite heat on the back end. Nice wine but drinks forward and new worldy.

A beautiful Meursault, still young and pale yellow, with plenty of body and character. Lightly toasted bouquet carried through to the lively finish.

Überragend! Vorne richtig schöne rote Früchte, Johannisbeeren mit ordentlich Tanin. Dann Rauch. Der Wein ist kerngesund und hat noch richtig Biss! Hier geht echt einiges, so tief und so lang.

A truly singular wine experience. Perhaps one of the best wines I've ever tasted.

Decanted for about 90 minutes. Red fruit and vanilla on the nose. Velvety and crisp mouthfeel, notes of red fruit, gravel, and a strong minerality that turns floral and minty on the back end. Each sip got progressively better, extremely complex wine, almost Syrah and cab-like but with the traditional floral Pinot notes throughout. Unbelievable, I'm so happy I have 2 more!

Opened a couple of hours (at least) before drinking. Along with a sous-vide, slow cooked duck breast. First the colour: beautiful dry blood, deep colour. First nose of red currants and raspberries, evolving towards more earthy scents of wood, and fresh mushrooms. What strikes me is the elegant balance: it is incredibly smooth, with an absolute perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. The tanins are still very much here, but soft as silk. The first sip was not particularly long, but now, about 30 minutes after my first sip, wow!, very nicely long, withl a very pleasant slight black fruit note on the back of the tongue and upper palate. WHat a pity that this was our last bottle! I think it still has a few years in it; not decades, but easily 8 or 10... I cannot think of ANY better occasion than my wife’s birthday to have it!.

Wine of the night! Smokey pollen, stone fruit, minerality and a ton of things I can't define came through on the excedingly expressive nose. The palette's elegance and complexity was matched by its balance. Citrus, and stone fruit come through on the palette and lead into a long, lingering finish. There was so much about the wine that I could not put words to. It is simply one of the finest white wines I've every had and shows how age can bring wine into a class unto itself.

what a treat to try such a rare old burgundy. Tim found this one in his cellar and after 90+ years the cork had finally decided enough was enough and failed. the wine had started to leak out slowly and a nice little truffle looking nodule growth of black and white was growing on the edge of the top of the bottle. Reminded me of something ...never mind.
so if ever there was a bottle you would give no hope to, this would be it ( although that reminds me of a story about a 1956 Wynns Oven Valley burgundy found at the tip) . Anyway, there was only 400 mls left in it when i had seen it a few weeks earlier. . but it was blinded on me.
Colour - Brown brown and little more light clear brown on the edge with a shade of brown
Nose- sherry and walnut and slight spirity spice but not unpleasant

thoughts thus far were " be prepared to spit". Timmy tried to fool Yodamark by saying the wine was still in his cellar and throw me off track and promptly announced with a generous clue that it was not from the 1990's, 2000's or 2010"s. i replied by saying i didn't think it was even from the 1950's

so whilst i would like to chalk it up as another 100% perfect blind identification of a wine from the same night, i must say this was a little easy to pick.

then came the palate........silence......closed eyes, gentle swirl in the mouth ....swallow. and by god was it stunning. the mouth was filled with middle east spices and sweet dried herbs and decayed red fruit flavours profile but amazingly fresh and alive. the length was outstanding. the finish was 30+ seconds. a real privilege. and it was the oldest Burgundy by 6 years i had tried. Tim then told me he thought it was better than the 1943 DRC Latache he had in 2013 with his dad for his 70th.

My excitement was immediately sent around the world via social media as far as Germany. most people insanely jealous and happy for us apart from cousin Marky W who was frankly just rude to us and somewhat derogatory... oh well bad luck for him.

Thank you Timmy it was a real treat..

This wine continues to amaze us. Opened and drank over several hours (put the cork back in lightly between pours to keep it from over oxidizing) and it just got better and better. The perfect old Burgundy made at one of our favorite places... Hospices de Beaune.

Still fresh and youthful. Big and buttery wine in a great place right now. Light yellow color, very complex nose. Delicate notes of pear, honey melon, lemon, honey, almond and even crispy white chocolate. Fills easily a big glas, very intense. Very long, well balanced and elegant finish. No signs of age. Went very well with fish but is also a stand-alone-monument. Even better on day two.
