Super expressive with a complex noise from floral, oyster shell, apple, lemon, and other fruit to a palate of saline, fruity, minerality, this was classic Chablis. Such intensity but lightness, this wine tasted great the next day as well. Drinking great now but could age as well. Amazing, even more so for the price point! |

Terrific intensity on the fullish-bodied palate. Lemon oil, minerals, Fuji apple, and iodine all supported by the zingy acidity associated with the 07 vintage. Just as fresh when finished up the next night. Aging potential: no premox, no problem. |

It had a hard act to follow after the Giaconda and although not in the class of Giaconda, and somewhat incomparable, it was an excellent Chablis with a superb array of citrus fruit, some red apple and a wonderful acid balance that had not quite come together yet being so young but the wine deserved another 5- 6 years in the cellar where is will score much higher. A yummy drop and very well priced against more famous siblings. |

Tropical, but not in the sweet fruit way -- more like very ripe pineapple. The palate might not be as steely as one might expect from an archetypal Chablis, but make no mistake, this is still a wholly mineral- and acid-driven chardonnay. The fruit gives this incredibly breadth and lots of complexity. An absolute stunner; I can't wait to try the grand crus! |

8/9/2023 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 95 pointsRestaurant 65€. 100% Chardonnay. We were in Annecy and the whole family had just circumnavigated the lake by bike. It’s only 23 miles, but there is a decent climb involved and my sons, well, they are not the world’s greatest cyclists. At all. But they were good sports and also exhausted by the end of the ride. So by dinner time, they were both fast asleep. The plan was to meet at the restaurant, and we were already in town at our table, with a bottle of this Chablis well before they showed up (after several texts and a phone call). I would like to take credit for choosing this wine, but it was my wife who suggested it as I was focused on the local wines, naturally. Pale to yellow straw in the glass with an incredible nose of lemon curd, wet rock, and honeysuckle. Yowza. The palate is more enthralling with rich fruit, a balancing zinginess, a mineral element, great weight, and a boatload of verve. The lengthy finish only adds to the allure. Outstanding. 95 Points. |

2/9/2024 - oldwines Likes this wine: 95 pointsPre-Super Bowl Gentlemen's Dinner (New Jersey, USA): In my cellar since release. Double decanted a hour before tasting and served at cellar temperature. This was really a wonderfully precise and terroir driven wine. Crisp with chalky minerals, lemon citrus and tart apples. Great purity and balance. No noticeable oak. Long finish. This was wonderful with the Hamachi course! In many ways this was a perfect example of what Chablis is all about with nothing added. This was pretty consistently one of the top wines of the night. For me in the second tier close to the top with the 2008 Clos des Goisses. Perhaps the best wine-food pairing of the evening among many stellar selections! It was long and rounded but youthful and acidic. Lemons meets apples but with a core thread of mellower rounded flavours. Persistent but tight. Really lovely - a multi dimensional treat. |

If Jean Dauvissat’s Montmains is king, Fourchaume will be the undisputed queen in terms of characteristics. Palate is obviously a big leap forward compared to all the village classification, and rightfully belonged to the premier cru category. A sip and the viscosity are undisputedly much better than a village wine, with great acidity balance, as well as softness and elegance coupled with power.
