7/4/2020 - graemeg wrote: NR{cork, 14%} Correct midish garnet, just beyond youth. Nose is initially cork taint. Musty cardboard, whole thing. But mild though; this is carignan, this could be the right aroma? It’s rustic, there are open gritty lowish tannins, not much oak, cranberry fruits, vague red berries too. Medium weight tannins, still musty in flavour but it didn’t get worse. Tasted more of aniseed as time went on; I struggled to work out whether this was correct or not. So, uncertain, need another bottle to confirm. Shame I don’t have one. About medium: weight, but with a shortish finish. If this is the way it’s supposed to be I wouldn’t buy again. |

3/31/2011 - pjaines wrote: NRI may have been too hasty in my previous tasting note - the last two bottles of this wine have been very pleasurable drinking showing good varietal characteristics without the green, crunchy chunkyness usually associated with Camenere. Smooth finish - oak apparent but not overpowering. Good for £9. |

Had it before dinner (paella with chorizo) and during. Was better during, but could not quite hold up to the spiciness of the dish. Overall, not bad. |

8/2/2019 - valecnik Likes this wine: 90 pointsI've had several of these now (this is my fourth) but have neglected to leave notes since the first. It's been consistently tasty every time. A big wine, but the powerful acidity goes a long way to cutting through the fat. Love the smoky, smoldering dark berry and plum fruit. There's a stony mineral/loamy earth note that settles in at the end. |

4/18/2013 - kenhud Does not like this wine: 70 pointsI'm generally a fan of carmeneres, but this is the exception. It's an odd, almost turpentine nose and an equally bitter taste. I'll avoid this in the future. |

2021 Bodega y Viñedos Korta Grosse Mérille Selección EspecialCurico Valley more |
3/20/2023 - Wine Diplomats Likes this wine: 89 points100% Grosse Merille. This used to be called Verdot Chileno before it was discovered to be Grosse Merille, an old and almost extinct French variety. Grosse Merille most likely came to Chile in the 19th century. Since French wines were/are often blends, many unknown vines came over that were mixed with more well-known ones. Grosse Merille has almost disappeared in Chile too. In 2014, there were less than 4 hectares with a bit in Maule, Colchagua and Maipo. They mistakened it for Petit Verdot at first, so that’s how it got its name Verdot Chileno. |
