Big, smooth nose and taste. A lot of blackberrys and plum. No green sweet peppers at all! Good stucture and very good balance. 3,5NJP

Medium body bright red with a thin edge. fruit forward, bright red berries with hints of cedar and spice. Enjoying the mouthful by itself, but having a chore trying for a food pairing.

Vinho aromático e com boa presença em boca, mas ainda austero. Melhor esperar mais uns dois anos para beber.

Lots of black currants. More like CS than CF allthough there are some hay and herbs. Nice acids. Went very well with grilled beef.

The wine looks violet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle.
It smells like blackberry and blueberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

Amazing wine, fruit forward and chocate overtones, fulll body and balance oak presence. Great finish. Maybe a bit young, but still a wow. Was a special buy for our golf club. Not a regular listing through LCBO in Ontario.

{cork, 14%} Correct midish garnet, just beyond youth. Nose is initially cork taint. Musty cardboard, whole thing. But mild though; this is carignan, this could be the right aroma? It’s rustic, there are open gritty lowish tannins, not much oak, cranberry fruits, vague red berries too. Medium weight tannins, still musty in flavour but it didn’t get worse. Tasted more of aniseed as time went on; I struggled to work out whether this was correct or not. So, uncertain, need another bottle to confirm. Shame I don’t have one. About medium: weight, but with a shortish finish. If this is the way it’s supposed to be I wouldn’t buy again.

I may have been too hasty in my previous tasting note - the last two bottles of this wine have been very pleasurable drinking showing good varietal characteristics without the green, crunchy chunkyness usually associated with Camenere. Smooth finish - oak apparent but not overpowering. Good for £9.

Crunchy, peppery fruit - very much Camenere cliched flavours although there is a current of smoothness about the wine that makes it softer and more rounded than its cheaper stable mates. £9? Not so sure. Suffers from, I think, the limitations of the grape.

Cherry fruit forward, touch of smoke and pepper on the finish, good balance overall. A bit flabby, but not too much so. Had it before dinner (paella with chorizo) and during. Was better during, but could not quite hold up to the spiciness of the dish. Overall, not bad.

I've had several of these now (this is my fourth) but have neglected to leave notes since the first. It's been consistently tasty every time. A big wine, but the powerful acidity goes a long way to cutting through the fat. Love the smoky, smoldering dark berry and plum fruit. There's a stony mineral/loamy earth note that settles in at the end.

I'm generally a fan of carmeneres, but this is the exception. It's an odd, almost turpentine nose and an equally bitter taste. I'll avoid this in the future.

2021 Bodega y Viñedos Korta Grosse Mérille Selección Especial

Curico Valley more

3/20/2023 - Wine Diplomats Likes this wine: 89 points

100% Grosse Merille. This used to be called Verdot Chileno before it was discovered to be Grosse Merille, an old and almost extinct French variety. Grosse Merille most likely came to Chile in the 19th century. Since French wines were/are often blends, many unknown vines came over that were mixed with more well-known ones. Grosse Merille has almost disappeared in Chile too. In 2014, there were less than 4 hectares with a bit in Maule, Colchagua and Maipo. They mistakened it for Petit Verdot at first, so that’s how it got its name Verdot Chileno.

Korta uses manual harvest, cold maceration and native yeasts. They only use stainless steel to keep the wine.

Light, transparent strawberry red color with strawberry and roses on the nose with a touch of spicy herbal notes. Not sure how much they destemmed. The palate is light textured and mostly fruity and simple with something slightly bitter and spicy on the back end. The acid is a medium-low. Overall, a light, fruity and floral wine. Better served slightly chilled.
