10/24/2023 - merryberry Likes this wine: 89 pointsSome brown/orange tinting going on. Strawberry, cola, and forest nose. Medium bodied, crushed raspberries, lots of spice, some heat, cherries that have been on the counter a while, tangy acid, and a medium length finish. Pretty good, but seems to be on the tail end of its drinking window. |

4/8/2022 - Barsacpinci Does not like this wine: NRNice tropical fruit nose. But, the oak is way too much for me and I usually like oaky Chardonnays. THis was just overboard and it wasn't balanced - fruit and acid out of whack on palate. I liked a prior vintage of this wine very much but not this one. |

A bit of that cherry cola note as well. Plush tannins and medium acid. Medium + in body. Label lists ABV at 13.9% but it didn't show much alcoholic heat, though 2h in that note did poke through here and there. Well made, but very much a California Pinot with its generous fruit and floral profile. |

Lightweight in body; a cherry orange attack with mouth filling roundness; ends with a cherry orange and spicy semi dry finish. The heat is a little elevated and I would drink these now and not wait any longer. Good to Very Good |

2/4/2022 - peanutbutterskittles Does not like this wine: 88 pointsProbably just too much oak for my taste. Enjoyable, but not designed for my palate. Tart liquor, cherry flavors, somewhat syrupy but not that sweet. Some spice underneath the red fruit but, eh. |

5/5/2020 - tanglenet wrote: NROpened not decanted. I first thought “uh oh” as we had just tossed a corked bottle (different producer) and I was not impressed with the nose or taste. However, as it opened it became darker and more complex with earth, dark cherry, and mushrooms; lightweight in body and ended on a dry tangy cherry finish. Very Good. |

4/11/2020 - tanglenet wrote: NROpened not decanted and served chilled. Strong exotic tastes of tropical fruit that are carmelized. The brown sugar and citrus that was so appealing when bottled now display an in your face sweetness and palate attack that is over the top in profile. If anything it reminds me of the Kosta Browne One Sixteen from several years ago (I only consumed the first two vintages) We gave the 2/3 filled bottle to a neighbor and gifted the other to another household also under quarantine. Both were enjoyed and appreciated. For us, it was not our style of wine. |

3/29/2020 - Djfermentation Likes this wine: 94 pointsRather light in color but packed with evolving flavors as it gets air. Marciano cherry (Shirley temple) flavor with an element of a raspberry liquor. Some spice, a little herb (like thyme maybe?) and a vanilla/Carmel bit that showed early. Overall a very delightful PInot that paired very well with Panko crusted Tilapia and green beans with shallots and almonds. A terrific food wine that is rather atypical of Cali Pinot Noir. We really got into this light color, medium body, and well balanced Pinot. Most certainly will age well but quite approachable now with a decant. Fun stuff! |

Indeed, it was California Grenache, definitely not from anywhere else. At times it was a little cough syrupy, but it had elements that I liked. I'm curious enough to try it again sometime. |

9/20/2018 - Ortiz Brown Likes this wine: 89 pointsThe wine is medium gold in the glass with a viscous quality. On the nose there’s peach, apple, and minerality. The palate features peach, pineapple, creme brûlée, and a sweet minerality. There’s an oak presence as well, though not overwhelming. Medium lemony acidity pervades the experience with a medium finish. Very nice, distinctive chardonnay but as good as Betwixt's pinots are, we were expecting a bit more complexity, elegance. |

4/29/2018 - Frank Murray III wrote: NRFunny, as I gifted this bottle and the owner ended up sharing it back with me so it made a full circle. Have had several of these now during 2018 and I have a pretty strong sense of the wine, for sure. Aromatics of what I oddly called brown spices, something I would usually scrawl down for the oak imprint on Pinot Noir so I guess think of it as oak here. Pineapple and some vanilla, so some of that seductiveness again similar to recent bottles, yet the lemon underneath it that is what I believe will carry the wine and later when the oak sheds off result in a cool bottle of Chard. Drink now if you want that flash or let it age to perhaps allow the wine to get where I think it will head. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

4/7/2018 - Frank Murray III wrote: NROpened this bottle 6 days ago and I had some leftover under open cork that I had forgot about. Drinks like the previous bottle, with some new oak laying on top of lemon and pineapple. As I said with the last bottle, the core of this is very solid and delicious, with the oak needing time to soften in. Of note, when I served this 6 days ago, the group was primarily a non-geeky group of wine drinkers so the mix of new oak and citrus worked very well, as we I had to open 2 bottles of it. In that sense, this is very attractive at this stage for this kind of palate/crowd. |
