A beautiful nose that jumps out of the glass. Loads of spices all over. The power on the palate is even a bit overdone. If this softens more with the coming years, this wine approaches perfectness. |

8/26/2023 - ricard Likes this wine: 95 pointsStill an astonishing wine. There's the wine - a famously non-Ribera "Ribera" - and there's the vintage, 2004, forever playing second fiddle to 2001. The wine is quintessential Ribera (except that it isn't) - glossy, fresh, jammy. The vintage has got long ageing running deep in its DNA. Almost 20 years old and still exuberantly youthful and energetic, with plenty of backbone and nerve. Richly satisfying and richly textured. Sweet but not cloying or soupy. Firm and structured but not drying or astringent. Chocolatey, figgy and really quite, quite superb. |

Spanish garrigue and red olives, cherry and dark spices on the nose. Very full bodied and lush - mature, velvety and quite enjoyable. Day two, barny note is back, but adds to the garrigue - very round and fuzzy profile....medium bodied, light to oranging color profile - vanilla, tobacco, wet grass on the nose....lush smooth cherry, spice on the palate. Still quite a nice wine. |
