Finishing this one tonight. It tastes good, but a little muted. We'll see what aeration brings. Definitely pick up a chalky minerality on the palate. Not as fruity as noted last time, but still a pleasing, if restrained and subtle, fruitiness. Medium body verging on the light side. Nice acidity on the finish.
More alive in aroma and taste and acidity with time exposed to air (a little over an hour). Still cloudy. Fruitier.
January 21, 2024 - Exceeded my expectations, which were admittedly low. Cloudy out of the bottle (is this an IPA?) but clears as it settles. Yellow/light gold. Aroma of Flintstone vitamins and peach marmalade. Not complex, but tasty; hard to sip slowly. Light and fruity. Low tannins, appealing acidity, and a nice finish. Crisp. Peaches, lightly salted. It screams out for scallops, shrimp, and ceviche, and looking out at the ocean. Nice.

Firm, dry wine marked by bitter almonds, stone fruit and marzipan, all variations on a theme. A food wine. probably, which is not designed for aperitif use. Not really like any other Verdicchio I have had.

Just a short note. A very clean and a bit subdued orange wine. Oranges in all different shapes - fresh cut, dried peels and flowers, a bit of undefined dried yellow fruit and a touch of resin. Medium bodied with a gentle tannic bite. The acidity is a tad on the low side. Very good intensity that mirrors the nose. Lingering, spicy finish.
You don't see a lot of Verdicchio with extended skin contact. This example doesn't convince me that this variety is suitable for it either. Absolutely good but a bit generic for the style.

Just a great example of skin contact orange wine. Everything in balance, nothing really overt. Cold or room temp, not the sort of wine that you can simply sip. It draws you in and asks that you tease out the flavors. Tantalizing. An aged apricot color in the glass. Aromas are lean. Apple skin, muted citrus and mineral. Lean and dry in the mouth. More red apple skins, apricots and river rocks. Just fun. Drink now and over at least a few years.

No detailed notes - PnP with pasta and red sauce. Nice food wine. Medium bodied with good acid, soft tannins and just a little reductive like funk. The fruit is nice and bright, if darker complected berries, there is also a little vegetal note that is set off nicely by the funky character that comes in on the finish. Great accompaniment to the food. Given that the first bottle two months ago was a bit more reductive, while this is drinking well enough now, I imagine it will come into its own over the next year or two.

PnP- Zalto Burgundy glass Pale red in color, somewhere between translucent cranberries and strawberries. The wine looks as light as it tastes. Soft herbal notes intermingled with strawberries, orange rind and fresh tarragon. Such alight looking and tasting wine that I literally can’t believe the stated 14% alcohol. It simply carries it all so well. Soft in texture with refreshing acidity. A delight in the mouth. Drink now, then decide if you can hold.

Day 2 - recorked with no gas - in a Mondavi Chard glass. A light and pale gold in the glass, the nose is twice as funky as day one. Day one was nothing but lemon-lime, apple and mineral, day two adds a layer of leesy funk over the top that wasn’t present at first. Lighter bodied and mineral forward, this is definitely a simpler offering than the reserva while being no less delicious for that. A little green apple and a touch of underripe mango get eviscerated by the stony mineral notes that run through the center of everything here. A nice, lighter - almost elegant verdicchio. There is nothing overdone about this, just clean and refreshing juice with an edge. 12.5% abv. Drink now and hold.
