12/30/2023 - Russocaster Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis one needs some serious airtime to enjoy. Muscular and powerful. Plenty of tart, chewy red fruit (pomegranate comes to mind at the get go), with an accentuated exotic flavor (tea, cigar box, tobacco). Clearly, it’s way too young to drink. Get a case and store it away ‘till 2027. |

12/6/2023 - Russocaster Likes this wine: 88 pointsBright. Crisp. Loads of red fruit (bing cherry, raspberry, cranberry) with a faint remembrance of tea, cinnamon, white pepper and herbs. Not too complex but interesting enough to keep on pouring. Good acidity, this one needs some cellaring time. Try in 2025+ |

10/19/2023 - caspernick wrote: 90 pointsDeep ruby colored with staining on the walls and a high viscosity (14.5% ABV). The nose of this Bordeaux blend has medium intensity aromas of black plum, blackberry, black currants, a hint of eucalyptus, baking spices, vanilla, cedar and mint. The palate is dry with medium acidity and medium (+) tannins that are polished. The intensity on the palate is greater than the nose. I get lots more black fruit which which is ripe along with mint, vanilla and baking spice. The tannins turn a bit chalky on the back end of this full bodied wine and the finish is medium in length. I love this style of wine and when done with ripe fruit it can be very delicious, but this bottle seems to lack a certain depth for me. It's good, but not great (I'm a big fan of the winemaker btw). 90 points from me and for $25- it gets 4 stars. I'm pairing with marinated grilled steaks and Lemon roasted potatoes. Drink till 2026. |

10/3/2023 - Deegie Likes this wine: 87 pointsPerfectly decent but nothing special. Citrus and vanilla on the nose but rather limp mouthfeel. Lemon and a bit of green apple and peach primaries with a pretty vibrant acidity and a bit of spice on the finish. |

9/16/2023 - caspernick Likes this wine: 92 pointsMedium ruby colored with high viscosity (14.5% ABV). The nose has medium intensity aromas of red plum, pomegranate, violet, meat, blackberry jam and a creme de menthe hint. The palate is dry with medium (+) acidity and medium tannins that are plush. This blend of Cabernet, Grenache, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Mourvedre, Carignan and Primitivo is very smooth with ripe fruit and subtle nuances from each grape. It shows the warmth of the region in the way the fruit is sweet but there is no residual sugar. The full body is lush and coats my palate with beautiful layers- delicious stuff. The finish is long and somewhat dry but not astringent, the tannins are en pointe. This $15 offering gets 92 points from me and will be paired with grilled burgers tonight. 5 stars, drink till 2027. |

8/24/2023 - Delund wrote: 86 pointsOpened this hoping to pop-n-pour straight out of the cellar, but this wine really, really needed a 90 minute decant for the intensely sour cherry palate to mellow. 60 F. Ruby color. Subdued nose of blackberry jam, with light menthol notes and the slightest hint of alcohol. Light-bodied for a cab, well-integrated acidity and alcohol, light use of oak. Plum, cassis, blackberry fruit, cedar notes on the palate as the initial sour cherry faded into the background. Short clean finish. Pleasant weekday wine, that continued to improve with time and air. I would have guessed this was a bordeaux or a Mendocino blend, would never have pegged it as a Napa cab. Not sure that this has the structure to improve with age, but if I had another bottle, I would wait 2-4 years before opening it. |

7/31/2022 - agdphd wrote: 88 pointsFlowers and plums on the nose. Juicy acidity and some chalk on the palate, with a longer, slightly sticky finish. Acidity became more pronounced over a couple of hours of air. Drinking pretty well now--I don't think more aging is needed, though it's not going off a cliff yet |

6/27/2022 - agdphd Likes this wine: 88 pointsNice nose of red and black fruit. Still quite acidic, with tannins starting to mellow out but still quite drying, so it finishes a bit chocolatey. Not super complex, but nice! |

4/16/2021 - Redsquare82 Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis was a nice expression of cab franc. Lots of black fruits, not quite a fruit bomb. Medium bodied, not a fruit bomb but missing a lot of secondary and tertiary notes that would make it great. Still a pleasant wine. Balanced tannins. Not much of a finish. |

1/6/2021 - caspernick Likes this wine: 91 pointsI often plan my dinner around what I want to drink. Sometimes I pair the wine to the meal and sometimes I just drink whatever. Tonight is Strip steaks on the charcoal. A mid-fatty cut of beef that doesn't need huge tannins, but good fruity notes are more appropriate. I had a glance at the lineup of Cab Savs on my tasting bench and stumbled on this Cab Franc, the name which has an awesome twist- Pomme Roll. Google it, a right bank commune that relies on this varietal for some huge name Chateaus. |
