Light salmon/orange in color. Mild floral and saline nose with a hint of raspberries and strawberries. Light bodied, lots of a acidity, and very refreshing. Palate of tart red fruits - watermelon, strawberries, raspberries, and limestone. Very tart and refreshing finish of lemons, strawberries and their leaves, and minerals.

Bought 5-7 years ago from the owners - a lovely couple whom we met through our wonderful and deeply missed friend Steve S.

Very well integrated bubbles - age has helped. Little mousse and a gentle sensation on the tongue.

Lightish yellow. Nose of lemon, green apple and anise pastry. The dry, mid-sized palate has tension and an influential level of citrus bitterness, which gives it a pensive, almost weighty kind of energy. Yes, energy. Mental energy. Not calories but thoughts and emotions.

Drinkers of puer tea will approve of this organic bitterness that makes all gratification both delayed and possible. It is literally asking me to switch off, lean back and dive in. Like there is something beyond.

This is why people appreciate aged wines. They, like Steve, know something.

It is drinking at 89-91 points but it’s giving me emotions and thoughts at 95-97 pts. I love it for what it’s giving me.

It took a long time to open up in the glass, I’d give it at least an hour and a half in a decanter or in the glass, to get the fruit to come out, and for a fuller expression
The wine was beautiful once the fruit came out, however, I think this one will be better in a year or two more of bottle aging

Neat winery. The wine is a very good Pinot, of the more subtle variety - it doesn't quite stand up to, say, a Chinese-style orange sauce, but is great solo or with something more conventionally seasoned.

Pours very light pink with orange highlights. Fresh strawberries, orange blossom, slate, and river rock minerality. Attack has nice acidic grip and med+ body with lots of green and ripe strawberries. Turns orange-ier on the mid. Finishes medium. Pleasant, but not worth the $34 price of admission. Not a recommended buy. Very good 88.

2h decant. Light color intensity with a wide, clear rim and no sediment. Intense and assertive nose of cinnamon and cloved orange, ozonic notes, new leather, rose, and crab apple. On the entry the wine is quite round and med+ body with a bright pop of crab apple and rosehip supported by acidity and a thin layer of very fine tannins. Apple chips and orange creamsicle with a dusting of spices on the mid. Finishes med+ emphasizes the oak treatment at this stage--plenty of baking spices and vanilla. Open knit structure makes this approachable now, but it should age well to 2028. Excellent 91.

Followed over two nights. Pours med yellow with green highlights. Complex fruit and floral nose: lychee, pear, tangelo, honeysuckle, and a dusting of cinnamon. On the entry clementine, banana esters, and cantaloupe are evident. Med+ body with bright, crisp acid pleasantly blunted by neutral oak treatment. Finishes long with a strong reprise of melon and honeysuckle. Drinks well now but could hold 6-8 years. A half case buy. We have had a lot of Riesling...and this is good Riesling! Excellent 93.

(Producer notes, pasted because i am not sure they are published on the CCPP website: 2021 Sonoma Coast Riesling:
Our inaugural white wine! We'd only done Pinot Noir, Rosé and Champagne up to this point. Bone dry, with citrus and mineral notes. Beautiful aromatic expression normally found in Germany and Austria but sourced from 25 year old clone 17 Riesling vines from Abigail's Vineyard in West Sonoma County. Crisp and refreshing, this wine doesn't go through malolactic and is aged 7 months in neutral French oak barrels. Ready to drink now but will also cellar nicely up to 10 years. 12.5% alcohol /110 cases/$45 retail)

Short decant on this new year's eve-eve-eve. Generous and evolving nose of black raspberry, orange peel, white pepper, bourbon barrel stave, rose petal, sea spray, and cinnamon stick. Entry of crunchy red and orange fruits and spice carried through the mid. Moves to richer and more satisfying flavors of oven roasted cranberries, nori, and earthiness on the finish. Good contrast between brighter and heavier elements throughout. Well balanced structure of prickly acid and ultra-fine, slightly rubbery tannins.

This is outrageously complex, balanced, and delicious. Drinking at peak now. This wine MOVED us. Outstanding 96.

Tasted at the winery. Rice-Spivak is an inland site with a slightly cooler average temperature. Expressive, COMPLEX nose. Cranberry, dry earth, ripe pepper, etc. Good drive. Excellent 92.

The wine was between a purple and garnet color. The legs, medium. There was light sediment in the bottle. the aroma was of oak barrel and minerals. It tasted like forest/river floor, minerals and oak with a slight after taste of black cherry left in the mouth. The body was a light/medium and was very welcoming. Medium acidity with a silky smooth texture. This wine is aging nicely.

Lately when I open a Sonoma Pinot, I expect it to be very in-your-face but this isn’t that at all, Very smooth and balanced. Great looking with maroon hues all around, notes of spice and a light plum thing going on. This is just right paired w some lamb on the grill and wow, I’m impressed. Already thinking about how I’m gonna get more.

Very earthy and funky - I love when this quality gets into a New World Pinot Noir. To stand alone it could use a bit more body. With food it could use a bit more acid. Distinctive, but not showing beautifully.
