Slight funk and oxidation in the nose, but that's to be expected in a Rasteau of this age. Still surprisingly aggressive in the mouth with salt from the dominant grenache but also with sprightly spice from mourvèdre and syrah. Plenty of acidity with still some tannins in the finish. A rough-and-ready wine, kind of like an aging prizefighter. The tannins will probably outlive the wine. At its peak. |
