This is the 22nd of 30 bottles of this wine, so I'm not sure what more I had to add to previous notes. The slightly lower score is probably because of a lack of attention. Waxy yellow fruits, density, honey and honeysuckle. I may save a couple of bottles in a dark corner for science, but I'm still full steam ahead on this.

I drank this many times in 1999-2000. It was stupifying, like no other thing. Obscenely fat and salty, and breezed with relentless articulated detail.

Light gold color, rich, a little nutty and barely noticeable RS, but still with plenty of acid and lots of life left. I love aged old school Mâcons and this is an example of why.

<50°F (<10°C) it tastes like "what's the point?" ... sweet alcohol, impacted oak, and otherwise simple, even dull. ~55°F (13°C) acidity and stone flavors begin to rouse. Here is the beginning of suggestive peppermints, conference pears, and limoncello. But only after it energizes to an internal temperature of 62°F (17°C) do I begin to taste savory salts and fats—predominantly nut, raw and toasted, but also hen schmalz. Magnolia nougat. All of those flavors that were accessible when it was cold have now expanded and trailed a mood of sophistication and mannered abundance. The mineral dimension, now , is particularly sculpted, and not some rank, new construction either. I'm easily lost in the invasive patina that characterizes all those interesting, fertile vertices and salty salients. A careless, sugary concrete rinse pervades the experience at all temperature stages. This might not be my favorite Roally vintage, but it's real good. With quite ripe Rush Creek Reserve (on the cusp of ammoniated cliff face) it fits like a dear glove with mint edges.

Delicious buttery balanced. Ready to drink but I wish I had more for a few year of cellaring. Needs 45 minutes to warm to cellar temp and open.

shared this bottle with pat at selkirk manor. i continue to prune the cellar of bottles with past due drink by dates. decided to open this bottle in accordance with daniel posner's longevity estimate. current abbreviated impressions- golden color but young and vibrant. Rich mineral, lemon and wet stone. this wine is indestructible. impressions are essentially the same as previous tastings over the past four years. i quote, "this bottle has the same golden straw color as last time which is consistent with the idea that its progression to maturity is proceeding at a slow pace. the wine is in sound condition and still shows lots of fruit on the nose. fills the mouth from cheek to cheek with stone fruit. a hint of hazelnut as well. some gravel in the background. the wine remains fresh and clean. no oiliness. 5 second finish. i love this wine. i love it more than the professional critics. it is probably my favorite vire-clesse. glad i have more which i will drink over the next year or two. need to seek out its big brother (bongran).

I don't see the overall value in this wine. This is by no means bad, but just SO boring! I'm missing the oaky and buttery notes (and no, I'm not expecting it to behave like a NW Chardonnay!). Don't know what to say other than I'm not into this style, I find the wine uninspiring, lackluster and complete waste of money!

Nothing wrong with this wine at all - still, just a little boring wine. Pleasant nose and a good taste. No heavy alcohol taste or bad aftertaste. Apples and hints of something tropical on the nose. The taste is fresh and clean. QVP-ratio I'm not too excited.

Pale gold with lemon reflections
Aromatics medium. Crisp pear, rocks, yellow florals followed by ripe yellow apple over time. No new oak.
Palate has a medium + body with a creamy mouthfeel. Acid medium +. No phenolics. Alcohol medium +. Sweet pear and lime. Almost some residual sugar.
Finish has a medium + length. Balanced.
Dry glass notes of hay.
Overall, seems ripe and somewhat new world. I suspect a warm vintage
Not sure that aging will make a lot of difference

Double Blind tasting
Medium gold color
Medium aromas opening up to medium plus with time in the glass - initially this wine gave pear and unripe peach aromas dominated by salinity and dry rock minerality - with time in the glass this opened up to a ripe yellow apple and pear with white florals and less minerality - notes of used oak
Medium plus body - fairly round mouthfeel with creamy notes from presumed lees contact - ripe pear and citrus with some dry minerality
Medium plus acidity and mild phenolic bitterness with medium plus alcohol - possible small amount of RS - medium length led by fruit and acid
Pretty dense palate here - not an elegant wine but enjoyable
I guessed a ripe Chablis but didn't feel right about it - this explains that due to warmer region and vintage
I think this wine may improve with another 2-3 years of cellar time but not totally convinced

shared with pat at selkirk manor celebrating the end of the work week and temporary respite from covid-19. i continue to prune the cellar of wine with past due drink by dates. pre-senile dementia setting in. i did not recall having tasted last month. due to distraction, still no formal notes. notes from 2019 continue to ring true. overall a remarkable wine with great expression of teroir. will attend to remaining bottles in late spring of 2022 and promise myself to take careful notes at that time.

Mâcon Chardonnay from a curiously insulated and mutant set of old vines. It is a good reference for the variables of massale planting and musqué mutation. For USA residents it's key to understanding how Louis/Dressner changed history. NOSE: clean, firm bedrock of sweet stone. Mature berries. Blanched almonds. Eventually, there emerges the barest suggestion of exotic departures involving buttercream, green pineapple, root beer, and lemon peel. MOUTH: A stout-golden brew. Expansive. Active with nuts, golden syrup, chipped pears, and apples. This is helping confirm for me that northern Europe’s 2019 generally provided all the power and acidity one could want. Broad, boozy, Kabinett Chardonnay. Yum! Serve with southwest spiced food.

Don’t ask me how or why this 25$ burgundy was still excellent in 2021.
Dense amazing mouth feel sweet, lots of fruit pineapple, Carmel notes.
Resembled a late harvest chard.

Decanted for 45 min. Aromas of mix of tart and ripe apples, herbs, minerals and a touch of vanilla oak. Palate w gala apples, mild levels of herbs and some minerals. A bit of oak spice. Medium bodied w nice acids and good depth of flavors. Short finish. Somewhat simple but yet satisfying. Went nicely w chicken vegetable soup.

Has maybe shed just a touch of baby fat and is showing a bit more on the floral side, honeysuckle among other white and yellow flowers. There is a sucrosité to the finish that is wiped clean by juicy acids. Lovely.
