5/18/2015 - ChipGreen wrote: NRPnP the wine shows its age right away with sherry-like aromas and flavors. With additional air time some of that blows off (surprisingly) to reveal raspberry jam, eucalyptus, cocoa and allspice with a touch of sweetness. Did not pair well with pizza (except for the crust). Drank half then capped and reopened 2 days later, aged notes appeared again and it was marginally drinkable. By the following day it had fallen completely apart. Should have vacu-vin'd instead of just recapping but still, this wine is fast approaching its use-by date. |

9/21/2014 - rjquillin wrote: NRCompared to Italian Barbera, rather soft, and lacking some complexity found in other high QPR bottles (WineSmith); good fruit going here. A bottle unlikely to offend, but didn't quite hold up to some Mexican style tri-tip. |

9/4/2014 - ChipGreen wrote: 88 pointsStill drinking great. Spicier than before with raspberry jam aromatics and flavors. Medium tannins, medium body, medium finish. Nice pizza wine. Drank over 5-6 days, Vacu-Vin'd between glasses and it held up incredibly well. |

3/24/2014 - sdilullo Likes this wine: NRExtremely fruit-forward and a bit drier than expected on the initial sip. Mellowed nicely after a few minutes in the glass. Really nice with a Caesar salad and good with some radiatori in marinara sauce - actually slightly better with the salad, in my opinion. Great QPR at about $13/bottle! |

6/13/2013 - North316 wrote: 87 pointsVery nice Zin. A little hot on pnp, but the alcohol took a backburner after a few minutes in the glass. Nice dark, jammy fruits. Spice, pepper and a little oak to help balance out the jamminess. This was very pleasant wine. Paired well with chicken and steak fajitas and as a sipper afterwards. |

5/18/2013 - Tim221 Likes this wine: 89 pointsNot your average Barbera.. this 2008 Lang Barbera has a nice alcohol kick to it. Good bouquet of wine yeast and cherries, nice full-bodied flavor of tobacco and spice, strong acid and alcohol mouthfeel, lingering flavor of oak and dark fruit. May have just a touch too much alcohol for a higher score, but this is just about the best Barbera we've had! |

3/28/2013 - Tim221 Likes this wine: 90 pointsThe bouquet was a bit muted, lightly berry-ish with a hint of burnt rubber. It appeared it might be starting to oxidize, a slight hint of brown was on the edges of the wine in the glass. Great flavor, some fruit (although not too much) with earthy flavors, solid acid, more tannins than expected with an aged Barbera, and a nice lingering finish. While the bottle says it's around 15% alcohol, the flavor profile seems like less. Overall, we really enjoyed this one. |
