Roussillon; 9/14/2019-9/27/2019 (Banyuls): On the nose a bit of everything, citrous, melon, white blossom and a slightly mineral, on the palate fresh, nice bitter note, medium length. Needs food and was very good with sole, very good price to quality relation, drink now or within the next 2 to 3 years, 88-89.

From 75cl, P+P in a restaurant. Sweetish, non-descript, cloying Grenache, no oak, 14% alc, a kind of "Roussillon Nouveau" (or possibly a superior, non-fizzy Sangria) with some discernable fruit quality but nothing actually to like (unless you actually prefer Sangria to proper wine, that is) 83P(?)

I rated this a 91 twelve months ago. A lower score because while I am a great fan of 100% Roussanne wines this is now bordering on a rather strident version of the grape. Possibly best drunk a little younger - or for Roussanne purists/fanatics.......

Nice! Ripe nose with mango and honey. Rich fat mouthfeel, just enough acidity to keep it moderately fresh - this is VERY southern France. Drink this summer, do not keep.

Perfectly fine. Typical Rousillon flavours of very ripe brambly fruit, but this one avoids being too heavy and cloying. A very nice freshness keeps everything alive. Drink at cellar temperature!

Way-above your average Rousillon blanc, this offers sumptuous fruit aroma's embedded in a decadent mouthfull of delicious wine. Great QPR. Soft, fat & round yet fresh enough. Crowdpleaser.

Marsanne, Roussane, Grenache Gris, Macabeu, Carignan blanc. Medium lemon colour, white fleshed fruit, exotic spices, parfumed, and lots of stoney minerality. Very exciting wine which has the opulence and parfume from Viognier, oily texture of Marsanne and an additional crispy acidity and mineral edge. Long, textured and deep flavoured.

The sommelier told me to try it first and he'd come back after I'd tasted it to explain it.
A fantastic coppery colour like a very very very very very pale tawny: imagine a 10 yr tawny diluted 50:50 with white wine. Interesting nose - and it's obviously not a muscat - with dried fruit and nuts, mocha and a hint of vanilla. I guess this is a lightly fortified grenache, like a Banyuls, but in a much much lighter style. On the palate, it's round and soft, with more dried fruits and a marked cognac flavour: but only the flavour - there's no trace of spirit.
Apparently it is grenache, but it's grenache blanc, that is fortified and then left outside in large glass jars at the Mas for three seasons (winter, spring, summer) to develop some rancio notes. I didn't quite get the rancio notes, but I really liked this wine.
