1999 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Richebourg

Richebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir more

I will wait another few years as it's still too young for my taste. Dark fruit, minerals and a little spice. Drinkable now with a good 2 hour decant. Might surprise on the upside.

11/25/2020 5:51:00 AM - The 99 is excellent but much tighter than I expected. I was expecting something more akin to the 02. All the elements are there for further evolution and improvement. My experience is that many 99s are taking much longer to develop than I expected.

Drank this along side the 1991 La Tache. For me, the La Tache was the winner but both were exceptional bottles. I felt the Cros Prarantoux was fully mature and the La Tache was just entering it's drinking window. The Parantoux was earthier and had a little less spice.

Happy it wasn't premoxed! This was an excellent bottle. The nose was a little reserved in the beginning but opened up nicely in 15 minutes. A nice floral and lemon finish that lingered.

5/12/2019 9:15:00 AM - Sad indeed! I find myself drinking white burgs earlier and earlier because of the premox risk. Sort of defeats the point of drinking white burgs. I'm drinking more Chablis as the problem seems to be better contained there.

Has lots of potential but needs much more time. Give it another 5 years. After a 3 hour decant it was still to tight. Lovely nose but not yielding much on the palate.

Very disappointing showing. There seems to be a lot of variability in different bottles of 82 Lafite. Tasted against the 82 Latour which was outstanding and has been a very consistent performer.

9/5/2017 7:44:00 AM - I should add the provenance of the Latour was better than that of the Lafite. I bought 2 OWCs of Latour but the Lafite I bought 6 bottles 10+ years ago from a reliable source. I have tasted 4 of the 6 bottles and the variability has been fairly significant. I have discussed with others and they report a similar variability.

Still a bit too young for my taste but a truly exceptional wine. Next time I will give a longer decant. Interestingly, I recently tasted this a against the 82 Lafite. I actually, liked the Lafite better. Last night tasted against the 82 Lafleur. All these are outstanding wines by any measure!
