not totally undrinkable, and I suppose can give you some hints of what both aged BDX and the 2000 vintage are like if you are curious, but this is not good wine on two levels. 1) the fruit is barely on the nose and totally absent from the palate -- it's out of its drinking window for sure. And 1a) this wine was obviously stored poorly for many years at room temperature or worse. It tastes just like what long-term warm storage tastes like.

I agree with green pepper on the palate, and yes it still has some grip, but behind the heat spoilage.

Glad I bought it -- less than ten dollars. Had fun swirling and spitting big mouthfuls, but wouldn't pour a glass and actually drink it -- too much good wine out there to enjoy!

$9 at Grocery Outlet. Decanted for 15-20 min, mainly for sediment, and funneled off a 375 for tomorrow. Nice nose, somewhat soft, but with elegance in the plum fruit. Some nice secondary aromas of cedar and dirt. Bright acidity, with some loamy flavors coming through on the midpalate. Plum fruit, earth, with a sour cherry finish. This is showing its age a bit, with a hint of oxidation on the back. Still some decent tannins at age 12.
