Coravin fun - Grand Puy Lacoste (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. A closed and more brooding version of the 2015; perhaps more ripeness here as well. Toasted oak underpins, slight alcohol warmth to the nose. With time and agitation shows black fruit compote with a little red berry underpin. In the mouth it has medium plus intensity acidity and flavours (as per the nose), the oak and tannins both play a supporting role; the former offering a little sweet spice, caramel and vanilla, the latter some floury textured grip that travels and persists on the long finish which also shows some alcohol warmth. Very good with plenty of promise.

very dark in color
nose- some VA which blew off, slightly stinky / pruney.
mouth - darker spectrum fruit but it felt a touch heavy and i couldnt get away from thinking that this particular bottle suffered from taint.

Ref fruit nose, light to medium bodied. Nice dark red fruits on palate, reminiscent of Gamay or Cabernet Franc but understand it is 100% Mencia. Maybe a bit lacking in acidity but a very charming wine nonetheless.

From half bottle (for no reason I always buy KR in halves). I appreciate these wines for their beautiful acidity and fruit, not sure how they age long-term as I always drink them up. This is dominated by zinging lemon and apple flavours, fruit underlying is there on the mid palate and It finishes fairly short (compare with ‘15 Hunting Hill, which is more powerful). Fresh as a daisy!

Intrigued to try this because I’m a fan of the NJ pinot noirs. Wasn’t disappointed! Great fruit, tannin and acidity in balance. Savoury finish, tasted like some whole bunches used? Super elegant and refined. Very drinkable and great value, have stocked up.

I’ve tried a few bottles this vintage always surprises me. Sometimes very muscular, sometimes more lifted and aromatic, often both in different glasses from the same bottle! The tannin has softened now and the acidity is nicely prominent. Lovely red fruits. Savoury and has a long finish.
