By the glass. It tastes like kirsh of cherries, with nose reminiscent of menthol and sharp spices. A combination at least very curious. A high acidity and an easy drink feeling complement this wine. More than just acceptable.

Por copas. Sabe a kirsh de cerezas, con recuerdos en nariz a mentol y a especias punzantes. Una combinación cuando menos curiosa. Una alta acidez y un trago fácil complementan a este vino. Más que aceptable.

Comprado directamente en la bodega Merens. Corcho empapado después de dejar esta botella (número 1844) durante ocho años en mi bodega. Eso afecta al olor de este vino con una sensación húmeda que no te deja durante todo el rato. Una pena por esa nariz fallida.
Al paladar, una acidez redondeada, poca fruta, textura acuosa y una longitud media son los aspectos más destacados aquí.
Es hora de correr con esto ... y de tener suerte.
Empezando un cuatrimestre salpicado de botellas de Ribeiro (blancos y tintos). Está es la primera.

Flashing Paris; 5/31/2018-6/3/2018 (Paris - France): Coravined. Depth and some saline note. Minerality without limit.
Long, bitterness, balance, refined acidity. Creampie Excellent for what it is. Quite difficult to find a disappointing white in Northern Rhone from selected winemakers.

Coravin. Profundidad y alguna nota salina. Mineralidad sin límite.
Longitud, amargor, equilibrio, refinada acidez. Cremita. Excelente para lo que es. Bien difícil encontrar un blanco decepcionante en el norte del Ródano de buenos productores.

A mis ojos sigue el cambio de guardia. Me refiero a vinos más densos, achocolatados y listos para disfrutar de inmediato. Botellas de restaurante norteamericano antes que de la bodega de un aficionado. Evolucionar sin mirar atrás. Una pena.
Y por cierto, también es una lástima o una vergüenza, según se mire, que no se pudiesen catar ni el 890 ni el 904.

47th Viceroy's B'Day; 9/28/2017-10/1/2017 (Restaurant La Piperna - Madrid): Mix of 70% sumoll and another 30% of Parellada. As expected, very rustic carbonic coming from the yeast with initial aromas of sulphur. Take a long time to dissipate, leaving a memory of fresh fruit. In the mouth its high acidity does not facilitate to enjoy this wine. For those who like this kind of things ...

Mezcla a un 70% de sumoll y otro 30% de Parellada.
Lo esperado, carbónico muy rústico fruto de las levaduras con aromas iniciales a azufre y sulfúrico. Tardan mucho en disiparse dejando paso a recuerdos de fruta fresca. En boca su elevada acidez no facilita disfrutar de este vino. Para gustos, los colores ...

Tuesday is Monday's ugly sister (Restaurant La Piperna - Madrid): Second bottle in a short period of time. Seated, saline but not strident. Smooth and easy on the mouth with good length and an abundant aftertaste. Alcohol was totally integrated.
Joselito ham recently cut as a perfect match .

Segunda botella en un corto periodo de tiempo.as asentada, salina pero sin estridencias. Suave y facilona en boca con suficiente longitud y un abundante postgusto. Alcohol perfectamente integrado.
Acompañando jamón Joselito al corte.

Cata Histórica de Abadía Retuerta (Bodega Santa Cecilia - Madrid): Acetones and roasted oak on the nose. It smells like coal ash. Overextracted in the mouth, very high acidity that seeks to compensate for the excess of burnt wood. Feeling like biting a coffee bean. It's not for me at this moment.

Acetonas y torrefactos en nariz. Huele a ceniza de carbón. Sobrextractado en boca, altísima acidez que busca compensar el exceso de madera tostada. Sensación de estar mordiendo un grano de café. No es para mi en este momento. P'al perro (de James).

Horrible this time. Diluted pears juice, too much sweet to my taste. Also little carbonic. I tried to serve it chilled. It didn't work. Worst Marina Alta ever, a reflection of the vintage? Too much young? A change of style? Maybe it is just me. Clearly an off-dry wine today.

Horrible esta vez. Jugo diluido de peras, demasiado dulce para mi gusto. También un poco carbónica. Traté de servila fría. No funcionó. La peor Marina Alta que alguna vez he probado. ¿reflejo de la vendimia? ¿Demasiado joven? ¿Un cambio de estilo? Quizás sólo sea yo. Claramente no es un vino seco hoy.

When a wine carries the surname "Atlantic" always provokes me a natural prevention. Fortunately, it dissipates when you start to smell those elegant milky aromas, those odours of roasted hay and white flowers. I did not like an artificial, medicinal, plastic pill smell.
In the mouth is a wine with medium-bodied and density of apricots and pears rather than citrus. It does not have much length but it compensates it with a gentle bitterness and a rich aftertaste. Feli, are you sure this is not Palomino at all? I believe you...

Que un vino lleve el apellido "Atlántico" siempre me provoca una natural prevención. Afortunadamente todo se disipa cuando empiezas a oler esos elegantes aromas lácticos, esos aromas a heno tostado y a flores blancas. No me gustó un toque artificial, medicinal, a píldora de plástico.
En boca es un vino con cuerpo y densidad de los albaricoques y las peras más que de los cítricos. No tiene mucha longitud pero lo compensa con un suave amargor y un rico postgusto. Feli, ¿estás seguro que esto no tiene nada de Palomino? Yo te creo...

Absolutely herbal and anise-like on the nose.
Soft, creamy texture with sweet carob, sour cherries and zucchini flavors. Raisins in the aftertaste.
Supreme digestibility. Pitifully my last bottle.

Absolutamente a hierba y anís en nariz.
Suave, de textura cremosa con sabores a algarroba dulce, cerezas agrias y a calabacín. Uvas pasas en el postgusto.
Suprema digestibilidad. Mi última botella. Qué pena...

Interesting mix of Alvariño and Treixadura.
Somewhat simple but really effective.
On the nose sweet smells of glue and tropical fruit from Treixa dominated and in the mouth acidity and length of the Alvariño prevailed.
A curiosity that at this price worths drinking. Another underrated supermarket wine.

Interesante mezcla de Alvariño y Treixadura.
Un tanto simple pero realmente efectiva.
En nariz predominan los suaves olores a pegamento y a fruta tropical de la Treixa y en boca la acidez y longitud de la Alvariño prevalecen.
Una curiosidad que a este precio merece la pena beber. Otro vino de supermercado infravalorado.

Servido por copas. Tímidos anuncios de Traminer pero se inclina más hacia había fruta blanca que hacia los lichies o fruta tropical. En boca es muy ácido por su juventud y muy corta por su escasa categoría.
Destrozará las mentes de los bebedores a ciegas.

Very tasty in the mouth. Wide and length although a bit short .
Very good but we had better examples.

Nada de astringencia. ni austeridad en nariz. Al contrario, cierta exuberancia con aromas a cerezas polvorientas.
Muy sabrosa en boca. Amplia y con longitud aunque un poco corta.
Muy buena pero las hemos tomado mejores.

From my very last bottle. Decanted for two hours. Endless salinity also notes of oxidation. Pungent and very long. Delicious aftertaste. Well-integrated alcohol.
Matching garlic and cayena pepper shrimps with radiatori.

De mi verdadera y última botella. Decantada por dos horas. Salinidad y notas oxidativas sin final. Pungente y muy larga. Postgusto delicioso. Alcohol bien integrado.
Acompañando una pasta radiatori con gambas al punto de ajo y guindilla.

At least the last Supper before Holidays? Maybe... (Restaurante Cuenllas - Madrid): Served blindly. No secrets to me :-) I guess even the year.
Initially I was thinking on a St-Julien or on a Heitz CS. Sorry mates.
Giving more than you were expecting. Soft but with acidity. Rich yet easy to understand.

Servida a ciegas. No tuvo secretos para mí :-) ni incluso el año.
Al principio estaba pensando en un St- Julien o en un Heitz CS. Compañeros de verdad que lo siento.
Da más de lo que esperaban algunos. Con suavidad, pero con acidez. Abundante y fácil de entender.

From the same bottle opened one week ago...a softie, elegant Toro with
finesse and fully aromatic of milk chocolate, plums and liquorice notes.
On the palate it was suave, delicate even with pout any trace of annoying alcohol.
I have to change my mind. What a value! Just needs time. Worths a different TN.

De la misma botella que se abrió hace una semana ... un Toro suavecito y elegante con finura y totalmente aromática con notas de chocolate con leche, ciruelas y regaliz .
En boca era suave, delicada incluso, sin rastro del molesto alcohol.
Tengo que cambiar mi mente. Merece la pena de verdad pero necesita su tiempo. Se merece una nota aparte.
