Drinking this while mourning the untimely passing of Taras Ochota... incredible juice from an amazing human being! This doesn’t taste like a Barossa Shiraz as much as Taras wasn’t one of those snobby wanky winemakers. Savory and balanced with red ,blue fruits and flowers as he always wanted his Shellac to be. Defying that boring overextracted, overoaked and overripe standard that Barossa too often is. Damn delicious, layered and mouthwatering! If you also consider that 2014 was a “meh” vintage this wine tells you exactly how a vineyard tended with love and a winemaker that makes truthful wines are capable to make a pretty big difference. Taras you will be missed! My thoughts are going to his beautiful wife Amber and their lovely kids...
In this world were real humans are rarer than gold we should value special people more and elevate their crafts where they belong! Support small producers! Support little families!
Taras I’ll see you in a barrel in haven where you are now surfing dream waves!
