My only experience with this producer. Needs some additional years, but still nice to drink now. Well made, complex, seems like it will get better and could become very nice.

    8/26/2023 3:42:00 PM - After opening I poured a little in the glass and the bottle sat for about 30 minutes. It was probably best during the 60 to 90 minutes after opening. It changed over time and closed up after the 90 minutes. How many years aging do you find is best for this wine?

Appearance looks like it is aging early. Thin body and taste. I can't see how this is going to blossom into something very good but I don't drink many Brunello wines.

12/9/2021 update: I have revised my score based on StainedGlass' input. I was expecting Brunello to be a heavy wine and thus assumed it was past its peak and fading.

Poured without decanting. Decanting not recommended since wine did fade, but held up long enough for enjoyment. Chateau Montelena is a favorite California cabernet and this bottle did not disappoint. Slightly brickish deep dark purple opaque color. Dark fruit, slightly jammy/stewed, some graphite and tobacco, earthy, slight bitterness, weighty in a good way. Tastes substantial.Tastes like it is from a place. Drink now and within 1.5 hours of opening.
