Dinner with the wine group (Terun, Palo Alto): Light-medium ruby; a bit richer and deeper aromatics, but still red fruited; medium bodied, 13.5% alcohol and shows a bit of heat, red strawberry; medium finish. Not quite as fresh primary fruit than the 2014, and not quite the balance of the 2007. 89-90
This really developed nicely over 1-2 hours. Balanced and elegant now. 90-91

6/15/2022 4:05:00 PM - Hi, I see your notes of the 07/11/14 Château des Tours Côtes du Rhône from June 14th. Curious to know how these were served .. PNP? Decanted? Slow-Ox? Thanks for your feedback. Cheers

Classic Reynaud nose. The palate is young and a bit warm, but a few years should help.

Seeking help here. As I experienced with my previous bottle, and Cab_Fran, Cbuhlman, and Swapdoc reported, this was another lightweight. It was better than my previous bottle but still easily the weakest vintage of Pegau I've had. It just tastes completely watered down, like taking the weak 2011 vintage and diluting it with water.

So... What can cause this? Someone told me heat damage, but that usually leads to stewed flavors and this has so little flavor I would actually welcome stewed fruits. All advice is appreciated.

12/23/2020 9:14:00 AM - This wine is still young and the way you describe it makes me think that it's closed and/or maybe in a dumb phase. Lots of air at this stage may help to intensify the depth of flavor and maybe add some weight, but a few more years of bottle age is probably what's needed before it begins to open and gain complexity. I agree that this doesn't sound like a wine that has been maderized.

12/24/2020 4:55:00 AM - The variation in notes is interesting. I wish there was more detail about air treatment to see if that could account for some of the variation.

It may be interesting to pop another for academic reasons and take small pours over a few days to see how it evolves. I'll try one when the weather permits shipping and let you know what I find.

FWIW, I did have a 2012 recently and did not find it to be concentrated as many others had noted. It was more medium-bodied and elegant. Overall not a great experience though because it had a funk that didn't blow off over the course of 8 hours.

    Cheers
