9/10/2011 - Beachrooster Likes this wine: 97 pointsA brooding blackish red wine with hints of the slightest signs of bricking on the edges. Fragrant aromas of cherry, currant, creme de cassis, blackberry, black licorice, and smoked meats. The mouthfeel is so soft, lush, and sexy that it should be rated (R). I was expecting a hot rod, but instead it felt like a BMW 750. The first sip sent fresh acid, alcohol, fruit, and ripe tannins shooting in all directions. Deft Balance...nothing out of place or outpacing any other character in the wine. It reminded my of a well tuned and practiced symphony. The length and quality of the finish was a stand out feature. I don't remember it being this long. The fruit and tannins really kept gliding, and gliding. I remember thinking, "Ok is it finally done? Can I take another sip yet?" Should last another twenty years. |
