Liz's B-Day Dinner at Singapore Swimming Club - Krug Vintage Vertical (Singapore Swimming Club): Krug Vintage vertical spanning Collection 1988/1996/1998/2000/2002/2003/2004/2006. Blind tasting. This was thought to be on a par with the 1996 so tied for 2nd wine on the night. palate depth ran second only to the Collection 1988. May be the surprise of the night. As one highly experienced fellow participants the wines showing better ended up being exactly the older ones pre 2000. Probably the one I would seek out considering quality/price

Loire trip 2022; 6/15/2022-6/19/2022 (Loire, France): [At Domaine Belargus] - Barrel sample - After Franck took all the time to show us the vineyards (including this one, Treilles), we tasted the 2020 barrel sample. This vineyard was recreated by Jo Pithon based on a picture he saw of the place from mid 1900: a vineyard which had become a forest. He recreated this steep and south facing vineyard (we went to the top with 42 degrees Celcius mid June).

When tasting this wine from barrel I just couldn’t stop smiling: This was one of the best white wines I had ever tasted and it was still in barrel! I was so ecstatic that I even didn’t take real notes; it was clear this was the Wine of the Trip. Fantastic to see how wine can create emotional reactions. 96+
