Another disappointing bottle - flat nose, weak fruit. Didn't seem corked, but maybe cooked. Drinkable, but certainly not what the winemaker intended. I just checked my records and learned that these bottles of mine came from the scam artists at Premier Cru. Who even knows if they're genuine? They probably got them from some no-name auction house before the feds closed in on them. Oh well - my guess is the whole case is a total loss.

So far I've found the 2006 vintage to be more consistent. I've got several more bottles of the 2006 and may try letting them rest for a while. Little downside, and, if you're right, some good upside.

    9/13/2015 6:16:00 AM - Magnums are festive - not a bad idea! I haven't tried the wine from magnum, nor seen it in that format. When I buy magnums, they tend to be special wines for special occasions, or rare that I can only get in that format (750s having been sold out).

Solid WA cab blend - the franc adds a nice softness. Good value.

A bit disappointing. Out of balance when opened (stewed tomatoes), but after 30 minutes it balanced out. Still showing firm tannins. A nice wine, but considering the big numbers from Parker and the Margaux appellation, I found it underwhelming.

First time I've gotten skunked by Last Bottle. What a bust. Vegetal, like a bad Cab Franc, harsh on the palate. Nothing to recommend it. I was surprised because I've had good Dashe zin in the past, and previous CT reviews were OK. Oh well. Score would be 80, but I'm calling it flawed to give the wine a chance. I hope my next bottles are better!

Perhaps I just got a horrible bottle (though the flaws here were not wet newspaper or flat fruit, which I typically associate with being "corked"). Nonetheless, I'll call the bottle flawed (though keep the score in my text) and see what happens with future bottles. I certainly won't experiment with guests, though!
