2001 Joseph Phelps InsigniaNapa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend more |
1/14/2023 - ipp Likes this wine: 96 pointsWOW!!! This bottle was the star of a night lined up against a 98 Mouton, 85 Lynch Bages and 97 Lail. The 01 Insignia is drinking like a 4-5 year old, but with rounds edges. Beautiful bouquet, loads of dark ripe fruit ... almost candied. Great, integrated tanning, long finish. WOW ... sorry, already said that. |

2/19/2021 - ipp Likes this wine: 93 pointsBeautiful old world Cal cab with modest herbaceous nose and brick red color. Twenty year has tamed the huge tannins, now showing an awesome mouth feel. A great balance of acidity and tannins, with a nice, long juicy finish.

2001 Lewelling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helenamore |
11/2/2014 - ipp Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis is clearly one of the great Lewelling vintages. A very sweet, beautifully developed fruit profile of dark berries and currant with hints of smoke. This wine is at it's peak and may will last at least another decade. I love this wine ... sadly only four bottles left from the three cases I bought. :(

I think 01 Phelps is near peak, but may improve a bit more. But whether it does nor not, it is still youthful ... and delicious.
The 85 Lynch Bages was very good. But to be honest, it was the last bottle ... mistake. Tired taste buds ... if you know what I mean.
