Again, great value for money here. Delicious every day drop with tannin/fruit balance and freshness that keeps it interesting. Drunk over 3 days with no decline in quality

Interesting to try a ‘reserve’ Australian merlot. Not many of them around, or at least with any quality. This is good - lots of plum, boysenberry, orange rind, meaty flavours. Minerally, orange juice acid. Dips a bit in the mid palate bit lots of interesting front palate fruit and back palate savoury interest. Good depth and length and highly enjoyable.

Looking at my last note on this, it was pretty spot on. It is fading now but still a lovely blend. Lots of tannin with the cabernet showing secondary notes but slightly dimmed, or washed out. I got stuck into it about an hour after opening but did not really improve after that, just held. Drink up.

This is drinking superbly at the moment. Many years left, but very hard to resist right now. An outstanding wine.

Consumed over 2 nights, Friday and Sunday, the nose jumps out at you, bright acid, red fruit, blue fruit, powdery tannins and a long finish. Very happy to have these to entertain me while the “real” ones mature

Stellar drinking for a wine of this age and price. Drank alongside a 16 Allouran and the differences were barely perceptible - great reflection on the winemaking and terroir.

Quite different to last bottle tasted. Much darker, more tannin and intensity, but quite good nonetheless

Lean, incisive acid and long finish with a touch of new oak coming through. Great purity of fruit from a cooler site of MR.

This really exceeded my expectations. It is on the red-purple fruit spectrum and has a super bright acid profile. It seems more in the mould of a Hunter shiraz than Margaret River.

Bottle decant for 2 hours, obviously not enough, a little acidic on the mid palate, with good firm structure. Day 2 is much nicer with balance and long aftertaste.

Such a good wine, particularly for the price point. At 11 years old this is just cruising along beautifully, smells of blackberries and cedar, some plummy notes as well. Integrated palate, tannins nicely framing without dominating, great length and balance overall. Same blackberry flavours, maybe tea and slight hint of cloves, all meshes beautifully together. Great stuff from Blue Poles.

Really floral with blackberry coulis. Savoury drive from the get go. Acid is bright and fresh with good tannin balance. Quite juicy with a mineral background. Got better as the night went on. Excellent.

Inspired after reading a few of the co-owners monthly blog posts, I thought it was time to try my first bottle of the ‘14.

Geez this good (and great value). Plenty of flavour, with notes of plum and cassis, but medium bodied and beautifully balanced with crisp acidity and fine tannin. Got years ahead of it.

Note based on Day three look.

Elegant, low oak style. Not as good as the cab franc a few weeks back, lighter bodied too. Good to very good.

Outstanding - a beautiful purity of fruit here, with real line and length. Nice to see Cab Franc getting a run in Margaret River. Raspberry mixed with blackcurrant, tomato leaf and herbs, cedar oak and minerally acidity. Seamless from front to back - almost so tight and refined, you could miss the quality at this young age. More to come.

16 Blue Poles Reserve Cab Franc
Would have liked more time with this wine, an (unfair) pop and pour to sub for a sadly spoiled Etna Rosso.

This is the second straight cab franc I’ve had from Margaret River in recent times to really impress the strong match between region and variety.

Barely opened up in the two hours we had with this, this is a well made medium to full bodied wine with excellent balance and very good length. It just needs more air or time for the detail to emerge. It has the purity. Very good to excellent at this stage, it’s certainly too young. 92 with a big plus, would love to see this again in 5 years.

Screwcap. Dark red with fuchsia hints. Some light bricking at rim.

Captivating nose with regional aromas of blackcurrant, bay, wet gravel and lots of menthol. Cedar oak notes play a supportive role, as do the redcurrant and chocolate top notes.

Not giving much away on the palate until it has seen extended breathing. The wine retains a lot of drying tannin on the short-ish finish. Much more supple, and gently fruit-filled, on Day 5.

Opinion: Good value for money. Demanding air and likely a few more years of ageing to soften and flesh out.

Really not a lot different my notes of the 2010.Massively classy wine but understated right now; almost in the extreme. Dry herbal fruits, spice, spicy focussed oak. Decanted for 10 minutes and I knew I shouldn't have opened it. Surely 15yrs+? Points will jump materially as the wine ages.

Having Pork Shoulder for dinner tonight so i thought time to review this wine from this Good producer of this variety. Cabernet Franc
On opening we have nice black core in colour with a deep ruby rim at July 2021. excellent
On opening again we have ripe black fruits of blueberry and blackcurrant leaping out of the glass with nice integrated oak . v/good and no green characters here which is super for this variety.
Again on the palate we have sweet fruit upfront, rich but maturing mid palate richness with still strong tannins on the black palate which need to soften before its fully mature but otherwise nice wine for the style. Still balance not quite right, the only negative QPR $40 is about right and perfect with sweet meats best.

Screwcap, 12.7% alc. Solid dark red with slight bricking at rim.

Regional menthol and bay, formic acid, blackberry, and plum.
Dry and savoury in the mouth; light on fruit and with grippy tannins.
