Not sure how old this is but is from before the producer called themselves Sebastiani Vineyards and Winery and bottle is embossed 4/5 quart. My guess is early to mid 60s, making this a half century old wine!

Winebid purchase but bottle in good condition with base neck fill and 1/3 saturated cork came out easily in one piece.

Nice color with beautiful sparkle and sheen. Dark center with garnet rim.

Nose initially quite closed revealing only earth and forest floor. After an hour, still quite earthy but revealing hints of mint, resin and mushrooms behind berry preserves.

Flavors echo the nose but there is really nice balance here with nice but muted fruit flavors. Tannins fully resolved and the finish is long and smooth. This is really old school California winemaking...

Way past its peak but still amazingly alive! What an interesting tasting experience!
