This wine has really blossomed into something very delicious:
Beguilding nose with smells of dried fruit, balanced by a wonderful acidity.
Very complete, long and complex on the palate. A myriad of impressions.
Wonderful! The style is still more international than classic Tokaji but since it carries itself so well, I did not object (anymore)

Tasted at the end of a long Oregon Pinot Noir tasting.
The wine is well made and luscious but comes in a more international, French, style. It lacked the typical kick and extra complexity you get from a more traditionally made Tokaji.

Rötlich schimmernder, etwas an Quitten erinnernder Bernsteinton.
Bouquet von getrockneten Früchten, insbesondere Aprikosen. Säure im Hintergrund.
Auf dem Gaumen gute Säure und langer Nachhall, aber die Intensität und Dichte des "Aufschlags auf dem Gaumen" , die ich eigentlich erwartet hatte, blieb weitgehend aus..
Der Wein ist vom Charakter her eher international und die Betonung des Ungarisch Spezifischen fehlt mir etwas. Hier hatte ich etwas mehr erwartet...

Lunch at 67 Pall Mall (67 Pall Mall): Deep amber colour. Pronounced nose of stone (peach, apricot), marmalade, honey and some tropical fruits (ripe pineapple). High acidity, full body, sweet but not cloying, very pronounced flavours as per nose, long finish. Fabulous wine.

amazingly, the wine left in the fridge and drunk after 10 days, was even better and more complex than when it was originally opened.
Seems to get more complex and interesting as it ages. A delight to drink with a creamy St. André cheese.
Two bottles left in the cellar. Taste the new one in two to three years.

Wine actually from a 500ml bottle. All bottles purchased are half liters
Light golden amber color
wonderful nose: dried apricot, pear, quince paste, honey
weight like a nice Auslese. Good sweetness/acidity balance.
then it becomes a little bitter and dissipates quickly on the palate.
A good wine without having the weight nor the complexity to make it into the "great"category.

Drank from a 250 ml bottle. This was more Sauterne than Tokaji for me. Lovely to drink, with quite dense fruit, but it missed the crunchy acidity I enjoy so much from this area. Of course the finish was long and it went well with desert. Enjoyable, but too international to score really high.

Paul Hobbs Winemaker's Dinner (Paul Hobbs, Sebastopol, CA): I think Hobbs imported this at some point. In any case, he told a great story about working as a consulting wine maker in Hungary: how rustic and agrarian the region is, and how the tradition began dying under Soviet occupation and continues its decline today. This wine was a bit simple for my preference, not spicy or racy but rather a good companion for food. It paired well with the honey and white truffles accompanying the fromage.

Good – clear mid gold; orangy fruitiness on nose; sweet; sticky; syrupy; mid acidity; medium body; long finish; flavour of oranges; marmalade; caramel; went very well with a fruit brulée.

The New Face of Hungary (Manchester): A remarkably minerally nose with some very creamy caramel notes. Very direct attack. It’s not immediately sweet at first, when there’s a great elegance and an orange caramel flavour. The sweetness comes along later, especially on the finish. It’s not the most balanced of Tokajis in that respect. Very Good+.

Edes Elet is apparently Hungarian for la dolce vita. It has an intense, concentrated nose with a perfumed apricot character. Superbly impressive attack. An immense balance is immediately evident. There’s great purity and freshness and a lovely character. Very Good Indeed/Excellent.
