Really good fun! A light, easy approach to a sherry style wine. Much more bruised apple than oxidative, but it is there. I think this could be the perfect summer aperitif.

Very much like a sherry! Bone dry!
Went lovely with vegetarian lasagne as well as an aperitif with almonds, cheese and jamón.
Would absolutely buy again!

I bought some of this and left this comment in case people unfamiliar with a label that states a vintage and has solera behind it. Over time there certainly is less of the older juice circulating but the solera systems are all a bit unique and the blends marked solera will always have some variance much like multi vintage champagne and in that same manner the winery that maintains this 1927 or whatever base vintage solera unit tries to tune their batch so it represents what will ultimately come to be as close as possible using these unique ways to capture bigger units of time and all the things that happen over 5 years. It’s going to show, but you have to marvel that all of these wineries develop styles that they hold even in some off years. Soleras are much like insurance against any one year of devastation.

I look forward to sipping these down a half glass at a time watching time move and the seasons change. I feel fortunate to be in these circumstances. These are fairly easy on the wallet considering how long I can get the amazing bouquet and flavors/textures from while enjoying some ripe cheese, nuts and dried or cut fresh fruit.

This stuff is crazy yummy. Beautiful floral and raspberry nose. Minerality overtone that carries into the mouth and provides the shape for the flavors which are amazing - bright overripe raspberry, vivid acidity, long finish. Wonderfully flavorful. Bought some originally through Vinopolis, have drank through it and now seeking more. It’s just that good. Not something that makes you think deep thoughts - it’s more of a “damn that’s great” sort of wine. Crazy.

PnP served as after dinner quaff, recorked and stored in Somm du Vin for 3 days, note from day 4. Appearance: Clear, pale amber. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity with developed aromas of nuts - almond & cashew, flor, stewed peach, and caramelized onions. Palate: Dry, medium- acid, medium+ body, medium+ intensity, 19% abv with flavors of almond, yeast, caramelized onion, and bitter peach with a medium+ finish.

Overall, shows a fair amount of complexity but a bit challenging on the palate, with the 19% abv an added challenge. Still I found this interesting and enjoyable in small dosage.

Gold coloured, medium(-) intensity. Develped, high intensity nose. Dried fruit with sweetness, dates. Walnuts. After some time almost aromatic. Floral. Restrained acetaldehyd.
On the palate dry, medium(+) acidity, medium body. 13,5%. Complexity with the aromas present. Agile, oily texture. Excellent length with drying end. Overell, austere with complexity, an enthralling character. Wow!

From label: 100% pedro ximenez from old bush-trained vines, from differents plots of the Riofrío Alto and Cerro Macho estates. Vinified separately. Either directly pressed and then fermented in traditional concrete jars (tinajas) of 4800 l, or alternatively trodden and fermented in open buckets. In all cases, finished in concrete tanks (tinajas) under "velo de flor" for eight months.

I’m a port lover first and foremost. But I like this. It’s thick and syrupy. Liquid raisins, as many have already noted, are the first major flavor to pound at you. Rich, raisiny and datey. Am curious if this will open up over the course of days/weeks sealed up in the fridge.

Taste is great but have a smell of "Taranka" dried salted fish. Trying at a restaurant and taste reminds me of the 1946 but the smell ... I'm not against it but bizarre. On the pallet you have raisin , dry apricot, prunes in great ballance.

Figs, raisins, caramel, toffee, butterscotch, burnt sugar on the nose / palate. Very viscous and sweet, can only consume in small quantities. Wine is well-balanced w.r.t. acid, alcohol, and sugar.

Nice to slow-roll this in small portions over a week. Ultra decadent, dried fruits, molasses, but with a striking acidity. This has to be the end of the night though, because the palate will be fatigued after this.

It's good with dessert but excellent with freshly cracked walnuts and some cheese.

Deep brown tawny color, probably one of the darkest wines I’ve had. Thick legs, viscous. Nose is super complex, with toasted figs, burnt caramel, stewed fruits, that Madeira-familiar turpentine, oak. Mouthfeel is incredible, super thick and delicious. On the palate, strong notes of sun dried raisins, stewed prunes, chocolate, tastes like your mouth is slowly unpacking a chocolate-covered raisin. Long finish. Really unique and sensational if you’re into dessert wines. Basically everything I want in a PX Sherry. A very small pour in a Port glass is all you need.

Tasted while smoking a Rocky Patel 60... Extremely thick almost waxy, on the palette it is light with a candied raisins profile. Not alot of acidity on the mouth. Very interesting bottle, especially considering the $19 purchase price. The method of placing the grapes on mats to dry in the sun reminds me of an amarone, and I can't help but think that helps the concentration, thus giving it that syrupy consistency. I still would prefer Port with a good cigar FWIW.
