This is good , I mean NZ Sauvignon good. I mean it’s really yummy, yet generic and boring at the same time. Thiols, passion fruit etc. short finish, little complexity.
A quality, pleasant 89.

Pale straw color; passion fruit, white peach, and lime zest on the nose; high acidity; tastes like honey dew, jasmine, and lemon with a long finish. Nellie says it's ok. A little too acidic for her.

Weak, acidic, no fruit thus not balanced. Will use remainder of bottle and 2nd unopened bottle for cooking. Typical Spatburgunder stinky nose.

Peach up front. Light but fresh rather than funky aroma for a Sauvignon Blanc. Passion fruit and melon towards the end.

Clean and well put together, it just lacks excitement (and probably a bit of acidity). Quite a lot of pineapple on the nose and some marmalade - it is almost smells like a touch of botrytis was there. Maybe a bad bottle.

Cloudy Bay it most certainly is not.

This has little taste. It opens up a tad but it's just really mild. What little taste it has is like all low price Marlborough SBs.

This is really one helluva nice SB for the money--indeed, for much more money than it cost. Light golden yellow, with surprisingly fat legs. Pretty nose of lemongrass and melon. Nice acid edge on this is bracing but refreshing. This tastes fresh and fruity, with great balance. Really quite excellent, and avoids the cat pee that tends to dominate too many SBs from this region. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.

Checks all the boxes for a NZ SB: gooseberry, citrus, grapefruit, saline on the nose and palate. Mostly clean and crisp out of the ice bath; creamier with more weight after time in the glass. Great QPR, especially as winemaker produced a pretty reasonable facsimile to better known labels at twice the price. Stock up for the summer at your neighborhood warehouse store.

Nice example of New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Very fresh, with floral notes and relatively high acidity. I advise to drink it cold and preferrably in warm wheather. We drank it with white asparagus (👍), but also nice as apperitive.
PS: I noticed that Parker (Wine Advocate) gave it only 84 points (🤔); very strange score as I drank many examples with a 90+ score of lesser quality.

I had a glass. The rest was consumed over 1 night. Excellent wine for the money, a bit rounder than some examples of NZ SB but still in very good balance. Wouldn't fool you for a sancerre or fume Blanc and states what it is elegantly.

Couldn't Pass Up This One

When I saw today’s wine for the first time, I thought to myself, “I HAVE TO FIND THIS WINE.” No, actually, I said that out loud, but since I live alone it was okay. I kinda talk a lot to myself anyway. I’m good company as well if anyone’s interested.

Back to the wine. There were so many ideas floating around up in my grey matter that I wasn’t sure which direction I might choose. After all, what’s the first thing that enters your head when you see

Ant Moore Estate Series Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Since I’m not a Kiwi (a person from New Zealand), I had never seen the label before, so how was I to know that it was the name of the proprietor of the winery? As creative as the Aussies and Kiwi-anise (I better stick with New Zealanders) get, it could have referenced who knows what; more Ants (yuk), my parent’s sibling (my Aunt), or maybe another critter wine, if you can call ants critters. How was I to know that it was the name of the owner; technically Anthony Moore?

At least I found out before I made a complete ass of myself in a post (wouldn’t be the first time).

All the grapes coming from their Estate Vineyards in the Marlborough region of New Zealand and sustainably-farmed vineyards, the wine is partially fermented in old French barriques with the remainder in stainless steel. The wine is finalized without fining but is filtered before bottling.

What comes out is the number 33 wine in a top ten list for 2021 and a nice 92-point review; one which I would agree with wholeheartedly. Starting with lush tropical fruit and citrus notes, the wine has bright acidity and a certain creaminess to nicely balance things out. As a Sauvignon Blanc aficionado, I can say that this wine rocks, especially at the $12.99 price tag I paid.

So, I didn’t get to make fun of the wine’s name, darn, but I did get a chance to enjoy this excellent wine. If you find it out by you, and you love Sauv Blanc as I do, pick some up, I think you’ll be pleased.

Cheers

Is saying that this is smoothly vibrant contradictory? Assertive grapefruit flavours that I very much appreciate it NZ Sauvignon blanc but well rounded, not sharp and assertive but very definite, and with good length. Hard to find but, especially for the price, I would take this over the mass-produced NZ Sauvignon blanc that is easily available.

Golly gosh!
This came as a special offer and felt like a prize.
A pale, clean, translucent red light enough to be taken for a Beaujolais but the nose led us directly to Pinot. The palate kept those promises.
If the price were sustained, it could become a staple to supplant the “ordinary “ pinots from the Burgundy.
We’ll have to watch this vineyard and the winemaker.
