As I have mentioned in previous TNs, this is a very nice, somewhat lightweight, subtle chardonnay that I would definitely buy again at this price if opportunity presents itself.

Black cherry, plums, mentholy, smoke, leather, not as earthy or pepper spice as I would prefer, a lil hot and warming. Needs time

Eddie Merlot. Did not take note. Good acidity. Medium body. Smooth to go down with short finish.

Simple and easy to drink. Cherry and strawberry on the noise and pronounced tart cherry taste. Medium in body. Decent acidity with a short finish. Nothing overly complex but overall good quality.

Lofty fruit. More purple color than typical. Scrumptious. Surprisingly barely medium bodied. Very spicy. Gobs of cherry and blue fruit. A little tight, needs swirling and air time to get released. Earthy mushroom Pinot flavor. Some light graphite and oily lanolin on the roof of the mouth.

Very nice. Tropicals and stone fruit, enough minerals and stuffing to carry this through to a nice ending. Grapefruit finish.

Purchased on the strength of its showing at a tasting: given more time to analyze, it shows even better. Quite a delicate wine that I thought began to reveal its nuances as it warmed in the glass: some orchard fruit and citrus, creamy mouthfeel, moderate acidity. Good value.

PNP. Deep rosy magenta color. Raspberry, cranberry, moss, and yellow cake. Dry palate, with good acidity. Sprightly tannins on the medium finish.

This probably needed air. It’s more earthy and tart than it should be right now. Youth may also be an issue (and possibly vintage).

Lovely. A little over the hill and quick to oxidize, but a charming example of highly aromatic south Willamette Valley PN.

Chardonnay is a coming thing in the Willamette these days and some very good ones are to be had (e.g. Evening Land) but generally at high-ish prices. Not so with this effort from Benton Lane - available at our table for only $19. A very obvious yes to purchase as Dulcie approved immediately. Fairly lightweight but balanced though I didn't make a detailed note.

A nice but uncomplicated OR PN. A little too heavy, a little lacking in the tension I expect from Pinot, but it is not too hot or extracted and does express some Pinot characteristics. Was hoping for a bargain, got fair value.

Score: 88. Relative to expectations: 0

Plump red fruit, toast, tobacco, and garrigue aromas. Nice texture, good brightness, with sappy fruit flavors poised against a lick of salt. Picks up cherry-flavored cough drops on the tasty, wood spice finish.

Opened this and let it sit corked for a couple of weeks before getting back to finishing and adding tasting notes. I don't think it missed a beat. A nose with cherry and a note of earthiness. Both these continue in the tasting. The wine has a smooth velvety finish.

Beautiful pale red color as expected from this young Pinot. Nose is quite inviting, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, hint of sweet tobacco, nice touch of barnyard and some oak. Palate is lively, with fresh acidity (medium plus), mild tannins, dry with a touch of sweetness, balanced alcohol, medium-light body. Blueberries, raspberries, ripe red cherries, little cherry cough drop, bit of lavender. Not much of a difference from opening to about 1 hour in glass. Drinking well right now, seems to be in a great place. If you have a few bottles, maybe hold one and see what happens , but I doubt much improvement is coming. Great wine at a good price, I’ll be back. That’s not a threat, that’s a promise.

PNP. Deep magenta color. Cherry, raspberry, cranberry, tangerine rind, minerality, and subtle nutmeg on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with lasting acidity. Full, soft tannins on the longish finish.

This kept improving over an hour or two of drinking. My score may have a small QPR bump built in. This is not very complex, but it’s a classic, varietally correct, WV Pinot. Easy drinker.
