Last minute wine lunch (Gary's): I've not had a 2010 Coutet and this exceeded my expectation. Wow, dessert in a glass, spicy, savory, sweet.

great QPR. had at the end of a decadent evening of food and wine with a pecan pie and vanilla ice cream and whip cream. cinnamon, honey apple with good crisp acidity. perhaps a tad lighter bodies than a sauternes but at that point in the evening, it was perfect for what we wanted

Wine Lunch (Gary's Place, Hudson, WI): Light-medium shimmering gold color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes. Fresh, youthful nose, with lychee, tangerine, creamy, bright, nectarine, pineapple and floral notes with oh so sublte wisps of spice. The palate is crystalline in purity and superbly balanced to the bright acid and fruit alongside the well masked sweetness here. The fruit is tropical and lively with a creainess and mouth watering aspect that is so refreshing in these "young" Sauternes. Loved it, so nice in the early window. 94(+)pts.

Annual birthday WWC hosting. As normal, 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert, all presented blind.

I’ve had a few days to think on this wine, and I finally feel comfortable saying this is the greatest dessert wine I’ve ever had the pleasure of drinking. 100% semillon. Each grape is picked one-by-one by hand. This was the 9th time this wine was made since 1943.

Between dark gold and deep amber in color. Aromas of honeyed tropical fruits and sweet espresso that fill the room like a candle. Unctuous and oily on the palate, there is coconut richness with an insane amount of brown sugar and orange marmalade too…honey roasted cashews, pineapple upside down cake. As massive as this is, it still has structure but also a vein of acidity to keep this thing afloat. At 35yrs, this is unbelievably good and shockingly youthful. If you have a bottle, it’s no good. Send to me so that I can dispose of it for you…

Medium golden yellow with a wide rainy, translucent rim with some legs.

Intensely sweet on the nose with honey, caramel, crème brûlée, toffee, along with tropical fruits in pineapples, pears and dried apricots.

On the palate, it is quite tropical fruit forward in the beginning with pineapples and apricots, and transitions to the caramel and toffee notes in the mid palate. There is a good amount of acidity as well, which balances the sweetness and the fruits. Finish is decently long with a bit of heat, with the caramel and vanilla notes lingering around.

Sweet, but not overly so, with the acidity keeping this fresh. Delicious.

Drank almost at room temperature on day 1. Nose of apricots, peach, pinaeaplle - very fragrant. Nice acidity, papaya, apricots, lemon custard with a note of spice in the palate. Young, overall fresh, full bodied, with a long finish. Will improve with age for sure, but already very enjoyable.

Golden-yellow, light colored (way lighter than some uploaded photos to the CT database for this wine); aromatic, citrus zest, white flowers; palate is medium bodied, elegant medium-plus acidity throughout, sweetness is present but elegant, medium alcohol, lighter fruits and less botrytis than average for sauternes; finish is medium length. This is lighter and more elegant than the 2006 Coutet, but also a bit less stuffing and complexity. Still a fantastic pairing with food and an excellent sauternes/barsac, but this is one I'll drink in the next decade instead of aging to age 50. 90-91
1-2 hours air: This develops a lovely spice, almost ginger on the palate. Early maturity notes which will continue to develop with a few more years.

The '20 Coutet is an attractive, fresh and lighter example of Sauternes. This was tasted next to the '19 and '20 D'Yquem, and was able to hold its own. It was much closer to the '20 D'Yquem than the '19, but of the three was the lightest in terms of concentration and perception of sweetness.

On the nose, I found apricot, ginger, sweet spices, and floral honey. On the palate, the wine is medium to light in body with tangy apricot fruit, honey, white floral tones and spices, with good acidity, very fresh and vibrant. It does not come across as super sweet, so I can see this being a good Sauternes to pair with food. Compared to the D'Yquem wines, this does come across as a bit short in body and concentration. In a way, this seems like it needs age more than the D'Yquem, showing a bit less expressive and more coiled.

Cork broke on opening, surprisingly. Rescued with a Durand. Light golden color, as expected for its age; aromatic, floral, white flowers, citrus zest, slight apricot; palate is medium bodied, medium-plus alcohol (14%), zippy medium-plus acidity throughout, certainly has sweetness throughout but balanced so it seems lighter and more elegant than typical for sauternes, early honeyed notes; finish is medium-plus length, clean, with slight grapefruit/citrus pith on the finish. Really lovely for an "off" year, now out of its awkward teenager phase but still with plenty of development left ahead of it over the next 1-2 decades. 90-91+
1-2 hours air: Continues to integrate and improve. No longer shows any alcoholic heat, well balanced overall, lovely elegance and acidity. This is exactly what I hope for when I buy and open Coutet.
Day 2: Still youthful and sweet, but balanced and with an underlying elegance. This will continue to evolve well for a long time.

37th of 48 halves, perfect level but soaked cork, darker than last bottle in Jan 20 but still surprisingly fresh, complex and attractive, probably best to drink over next few years in this format. F+ (18).

By the glass. Light golden. Rich aromas of apricot and wood. Moderately sweet clean tropical fruit and coconut with good acidity. Not overly untuous, yet this still seemed too heavy and straightforward for Barsac, especially when tasted alongside a dessert Chenin Blanc from the Loire.

From a half-bottle. There's a lot of variation, Sauternes can be relatively unstable, so these halves have been hit and miss, but this was a good one. Bright, balanced sweetness, a note of petrol, complex and fresh.

Really enjoyed this. The wine looks amber colored. The legs are slow. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like honey, almond and apricot. It tastes like marmalade, honey, almond, apricot and lemon. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium/high acidity.
