Explosive nose of graphite, cedar, red fruit, savoury herbs and red flowers. On the palate it’s medium bodied with everything on the nose also on the palate. The only knock is the finish is just medium in length. |

Opaque dark garnet core out to a garnet edge - little development showing. Nose is cedar, wet loam, light funk, leather, red flowers, plum, and crushed dried leaves. An enjoyable and inviting nose but little in the way of complexity. On the palate the ripe tannins are smooth on the tongue with balancing acidity (medium). The flavours are plum, blackberry, black cherry, leather, spice (lots of it), and sweet cooking herbs. The finish is both red and black fruit along with that huge spice. A bit of a powerhouse all around only lacking some finesse to really make it pop. Well done and still extremely youthful. It’ll easily go another 5 years and may develop that complexity that will take it over the top. |

Some lovely development on the palate underpinned by plenty of black fruit - I think this could still run for a while yet. It perhaps lacks the body of a great year, but this is a terrifically priced wine that will reward the drinker over the next 5 or so years. |

4/24/2022 - FamousWine Likes this wine: NRAs a fan of this estate, I'm pleased to discover today the 2011 vintage, which is reputed to have been complicated. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot & 5% Petit Verdot. The nose is luxurious and intense. The bouquet, typical of Bordeaux left bank, presents fragrances of blackberries and plums, a little bell pepper, smoky notes of cold fireplace and cedar wood as well as a touch of undergrowth. The mouth, fluid and barely medium-bodied, displays a serious and almost austere profile. The tannins still have a tiny grip but this feeling improves the “light” mid-palate weight. The persistence unfolds moderately on a minty base with liquorice, espresso and a hint of greenness. The wine manages to successfully transform its slight lack of substance into a charming and perfumed finesse. After an hour of aeration, this classic Medoc is drinking nicely right now. So it's time to uncork it! |

Habe mich deshalb gegen eine weitere Lagerung entschieden und den Genuss meiner letzten Flasche beschlossen, bevor diese ein böses Ende nimmt. Ruhig ist der Wein, duftet angenehm nach dunklen Früchten, Veilchen, Leder, Eisen und Holz. Am Gaumen quasi der gleiche Film, ergänzt durch eine Nuance Schokolade. Kaum noch Säure, ganz weiche Tannine, langer, samtiger Abgang. Immer noch ein feines Träumchen, wird aber definitiv nicht mehr besser. Noch weniger Säure köme meinem Geschmack partout nicht entgegen. Richtig entschieden. |

Schöner Duft nach Waldboden, Tabak, Leder und Eiche. Die dunklen Früchte treten in den Hintergrund. Am Gaumen das gleiche Spiel. Erdig, Tabak, Holz, ein Hauch Vanille und dezent Pflaume. Gutes Volumen, sanfte Power und rund geschliffene Tannine. Der Nachhall ist samtig und lang, die Tannine klingen leise aus. Toll gereift und möglicherweise auf dem Zenit. Das strahlt so viel Ruhe aus und auch ganz schön viel Eleganz. Eine Flasche hab ich noch. Mal sehen was in ein oder zwei Jahren geht. |

Some subtle note of pink fruits, almost floral and spice like. Velvety smooth in the mouth and a delicious smooth finish. Paired with deer tonight. Bats above its weight in terms of quality to price. Recommend. |
