Pretty much the same as the last bottle but less evolved. I blinded this on my brother who guessed 2018 Dry Creek Zinfandel. My other brother thought it also to be much younger but didn't venture a guess.

My last bottle of this wine and this one is still getting better. Wish I had more! To think I was not impressed by the first tasting I had in 2013.... now drinking well above its $40 price point.

This bottle was in good shape. Uber-ripe and fleshy. Enjoyable if you're in the mood for this style.

Decanted 45 min, no significant sediment. Absolutely delicious! Deep, rich black cherries with some herbs and hints of licorice. Tannins fully resolved. Clearly at prime - don't wait too long! 91+

Ripe fruit, a bit of dry earth, some smoky notes. Much as I remember it. Not a ton of structure, and feel ever so slightly flabby, but still delivers some nice clear Napa notes.

I was disappointed in an earlier bottle of this wine.....when compared with a prior vintage. This bottle was up to my prior expectations. I guess it just took a while to come around.

This bottle was in pretty good shape. Kept a little under vacuum seal for two nights, but it had fallen apart.

This bottle was in better shape than the last. Still, I think this is an example of a red that has not benefited from age. It's too ripe, with alcohol that stands out and the raisin flavors were probably much better in youth that at 16 years. Not terrible at this stage, but not particularly enjoyable either.

A little more faded than the first bottle from the auction lot. Really lost energy and faded more the more air it got.

14.5% abv. 2424 cases produced. Recent auction purchase.
A ripe core of sweet fruit that seems to be fading a bit. Alcohol sticks out a little, detracting a little bit from enjoyment. Maybe a little flabby. This is a couple of steps behind the 2009 that I had a week or two ago, which was considerably better in my estimation. This 2008 is clearly more in the California camp, while the 2009 could've been mistaken for Bordeaux. We'll see how the other bottles show (picked up 7 of them for $18.25 each all in).

Seems to be fully resolved and drinking seamlessly. Very Bordeaux-like flavor profile - one might guess this blind as Bordeaux, but I think the slightly elevated alcohol gives this away as new world. All in all, this is drinking very well and is very pleasing and enjoyable. Not the most complex, but there's enough going on here to keep interest throughout the evening.

Audozed two hours, very good. Love the sense of mineral/place, still fresh, with an elegant mid-palate, red/black fruits, caressing length. Pure, with avg+ length and secondary complexity. For this performance, it's
highly recommended. Now and the next several years.

1 hour decant, 60 F. Deep opaque garnet color. Lovely complex nose. Smokey vanilla, sweet tobacco and blueberry cobbler notes, with hints of blackberry, sage and plum. Smooth and full-bodied. Oak and alcohol well integrated at this point, soft round tannins. Initially low acidity gradually emerged to a pleasant level with time and air. Palate doesn't quite live up to the tantalizing nose. Jammy blackberry fruit, dark chocolate (with accompanying bitterness on the mid-palate that gradually faded over the next hour) and spicy oak. Short finish. Given the improvement after 2 hours of air, I could see this wine improving a point or two with a few more years of age.

Opened and decanted for 30 minutes, drank over ensuing hour+. Nose at open had a slight funk but blew off very quickly. Poured ruby with a hint of brown, some mild bricking. Certainly looked its age on opening. I think this is in a good window but the air definitely helped and the wine opened and evolved with time.

On the palate, initially dominated by tart cherry but opening up to rich, deep red fruits, with plum, cocoa, dark chocolate and notes of tobacco and cigar box. Alcohol was notable, particularly at open, but not overpowering.

A very enjoyable but very dense, serious wine.

Nose has alcohol that mellows out. Lots of Cabernet / dark fruit. Some chocolate.

Flavor is very rich - lots of plum and oak. Some sweetness throughout. Tannins are very well integrated.

After being open for about an hour, more cherry, and tobacco coming through.

Lovely wine.

Looks like a Russian River Valley pinot with a dark ruby color and density. Aroma notes of blue and black fruits , dark cherry with cola and spice. Medium plus acid and low tannin with a moderate finish. The 300 acres of Stanley Ranch are on the eastern most vineyard in the Napa side of Carneros. Part of the vineyard is being developed as an Auberge resort. I feel that past Buena Vista Winery PN from this site ofered more interesting complexity. This wine settles on primary characteristics.

This QPR is off the chart when you’re looking for a big juicy Napa Cab! Drinking well here. Aging well but won’t really benefit from more than five more years.
