Bright and juicy with good heavy weight and extraction, this 15.5% is slightly sweet in the finish and very supple. Made using a thermo-extraction unit and elevated without oak in concrete tanks it is a pure expression of a ripe Zinfandel. A pleasant and easy drinking very big wine.

Really nice and smooth, dark fruit on the nose, dark cherry and cinnamon dominant on the palette with slight savory tones, heavy mouthfeel with really long finish, virtually no tannin, delightful all around.

What can you do differently with Zin? Age it in concrete of course! This is a delicious fruit bomb from Lodi that is a little less hot then some of their counterparts but still big at 15.5 alcohol. My recommendation is to open it the day before you want to drink it for a few hours… then cork back on and in the fridge. Did that and it was smooth as butter.

Wow. "Concrete" is a good name for this - it's like a concrete block wrapped in plush cabernet. This is a massive wine, and though it's a 2017 it's just starting to calm down.

Not much going on on the nose. Dark purple and a little hot when first opened, but mellowed an hour later. In the mouth flavors of raisin, jammy fruit with good acidity. I chose specifically to drink with American Chop Suey dinner (pasta with tomato soup and sautéed onions and Hamburg) and it went nicely with this. Not a long finish but drinking well still. Recommend 30-60 minute decent still at this point.

Zinfandel Tasting (San Diego Wine Co.): 85% Zin, 10% C.F., & 5% C.S.; "We started off by picking our '13 Zin grapes between 25-27° Brix looking for the perfect balance of ripeness, natural acidity, & flavors. Most Zin ripened to a higher Brix while still preserving its natural acidity. The grapes were crushed, destemmed, & separated as needed. The wine was produced by Flash Détente Process & fermented in a combination of ways. Flash skins fermented in concrete tanks that have been in production for over 75 yrs, & Flash juice fermented in oak barrels. Cooperage: 60% AM & 40% FR oak; Barrel age: for 14 mos;"

N: Barnyd quickly blows off to a melding of forest floor & berries

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with ALMOST swtish frt (threshold R.S.?) with a spicy note met by JUST a TAD of astringent pucker which resolves by the LONG, albeit very, VERY slightly faint, finish with a tangy/SWTNESS to the innocuous, dusty tannins. Likely on the decline, though OK for now & into EARLY '20. My VG, *poss* VG+ *if* QPR is the focus? [This vendor's (closeout?) $9.99 is *SIGNIFICANTLY* < wine-searcher's limited sources.] 91 pts & "Editors’ Choice" WE (11/1/17) @ $20.

Seymour Wine Club Meeting 11/17/18 (Home of David Zanowiak): Tasted blind. Aromas of blackberry, currant, cherry and earth. Flavors of blackberry, mint, currant and touch of iron. Ends with a 25+ second finish with currant notes. I again was wrong as I had this pegged as a Sonoma Cabernet. Was a bit surprised when it was a Zin, but I have had some trouble with some funkier Zins in the past. Was surprised to see this was 15.5% alcohol because it wasn't heavy or hot at all. I gave this 92 points and it was the wine of the night.

Much improved since I tired it last summer and rated it much lower. PnP, no decant. Still has fig aroma and raisin flavors, but now the flavors are enhanced by blueberry jam and spice on the finish, with a touch of honey. I am conflicted on what to advise. This is my last bottle. If you have multiple bottles, my suggestion would be to try one soon, drinking a glass immediately, after a half hour, and after 1 hour. Let me knows what that tells you - I just drank my last bottle.

Fig aromas dominate from an olfactory perspective.
Acidic and too hot at 15.5% alcohol. Still, almost sweet, with a raisin characteristic on the palate. Definitely not what I look for in a wine, but maybe others like it. Not a bad wine by any measure, but I doubt this is a crowd-pleaser.

Alas, I have one more bottle....

For a high alcohol 15.5% Zinfandel this is quite palatable. Add an ice cube.

alcohol content knocks this one down. I love Zins especially as a weekday wine. this one is okay but not appreciably better the large production CA Zins out there for less. some upfront fruit upon tasting but the heat took away the aromas. drink it up, not one for aging.
