Tart cherries, blackberries, plum, earth, wood, herbs, and spice on the palate. Mouthwatering acidity, lightly grippy tannins, med-long slightly oaky finish. Light-med body. Delicious. This is the way that you hope bottles like this will age. Hard to stop drinking...so I won't. |

4/5/2016 - Mossrose wrote: 93 pointsDark ruby with no black. Inviting smell of pomegranate, cherry, and violets. Very tasty and mouth filling, with refreshing acidity, concentrated fruit, and silky texture. The swallow highlights a brisk acidity and smooth, lightly drying tannin. Delicious, finely integrated, and aging well, that can be highly enjoyed any time in the next 5 years. Showcases how superb Pinot Noir can be from areas cooled by Pacific Ocean fogs. |

4/18/2017 - Mossrose wrote: 93 pointsJust short of opaque with an inch pour. Nice nose of plum and pomengrate. Very filling in the mouth, from being concentrated and having a fine balance of fruit, acid, and tannin. The sip adds blackberry and black cherry fruits and the swallow moves right into being dry. Overall, superbly weaves together being well structured with being rich, delicious, and fruity. |

4/8/2023 - willschenk Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis beauty proves the ageworthiness of wines from this oft-surly vineyard. At 28years, it’s starting to shift to an orange garnet around the rim. The fruit still shows freshness - blood orange, cherry, pine bark, and some lingering round hints of oak. Lovely balance of fruit and tertiary flavors; still some tannic presence and structure. Probably at peak, but drink for another 5+ years. |

As described on the back label (it says that it's a feature of the vineyard influence), this Cab shows quite a bit of cedar on the nose and palate. Really nice depth of fruit, mouthfeel, and balance. Really interesting and enjoyable. Sorry to see this gone, as I'm sure the vineyard source is now tract homes, much too valuable real estate to grow grapes (not named Napa). Crazy happy to have picked these up for < $17/btl (with 22% buyer's premium!). |

9/2/2022 - PIntag wrote: flawedThis bottle showed better fruit than the first bottle of the auction lot. Not dried out at all. However, a telltale "wet cardboard" note was definitely present indicating the presence of a small amount of cork taint. Was not overwhelming, so the bottle was actually drinkable, but the TCA really distracted from the enjoyment. Shame. |

6/23/2022 - BeginTheBourgogne Likes this wine: 91 pointsLast bottle from a case: This was a big and flavorful New World style Pinot noir when young, now somewhat subdued but no flaws even after 30 years. In the 80s this was a small winery that took chances, sometimes making wines too big and alcoholic. I actually liked that bold style, its what this winery did best, and it was priced as a reasonable everyday drink. Now its more a brand. I kept this one bottle as a curiosity - to be honest, this was a wine best in its youth, but its still something special. |
