8/28/2021 - BeginTheBourgogne wrote: 85 pointsColorado pinot noir is rare because of the state's highly variable weather even though the average temps and sunlight say it should thrive in some places. This one unfortunately was a big briary new world style Pinot noir with no nose that still tasted somewhat unresolved at over 20 years. One lone bottle now remaining in my cellar. I salute the brave effort but to be honest it was tough as nails. |

2015 DeBeque Canyon Winery MalbecColorado more |
4/6/2019 - ISOPinot Likes this wine: 87 pointsGarnet to purple, slow legs. Aromas are dark fruit dominant: blackberry, cranberry, black currant. Definite dried fruit: fig, prune. Hints of light toast, cedar, artichoke, eucalyptus and garrigue. On the palate, dark fruits remain primary and all others understated. Body is medium/full, very smooth texture. Long finish, low acidity. Impression: extracted, deep, compelling with consistent notes Days 1 & 2. Renewed my appreciation for Malbec and continues my + experiences with CO reds. At $22, QPR average. Drink now or in 2020. |

12/8/2018 - ISOPinot Likes this wine: 88 pointsPurple with hints of garnet, light rim variation, medium legs. Aromas are dark fruit-forward: blackberry, cranberry, raspberry, hints of red currant, and plum. Less distinct are aromas of medium toast, cedar, oak, vanilla. Faint black pepper, more pronounced eucalyptus and mint. On the palate, spices become more prevalent. Medium to full body, smooth and polished texture, medium acidity, and a wonderful, long finish. A very solid effort by this vintner. At our price of <$15, QPR is above average and is reflected in my score. I would note, though, that the list price of the wine seems to be above $28. Drink now. |

5/16/2018 - ISOPinot wrote: 84 pointsRuby, excellent clarity, narrow rim, a few bubbles. Legs were interesting: first night medium, additional nights the legs virtually disappeared. Aromas of red fruit dominate: like strawberry, raspberry, fig, hint of cherry. Oak, vanilla definitely. Hints of dust, clove, cinnamon. On the palate, fruit remains, spices diminish, maybe a hint of leather detected. Medium body, narrow texture, medium finish, medium acidity. Impression: a cool-climate, subtle version of the grape. At $18, QPR is well below average. Drink now, or 2019 at the latest. |

5/14/2018 - ISOPinot wrote: 84 pointsRuby to light crimson, clear orange on rim variation. Medium legs. Subtle aromas of blueberry, blackberry, prune, light toast, vanilla; just a hint of oak and clove. Light to medium body, narrow texture, medium finish. Acidity is medium. Impression: a straightforward Merlot designed to attract tasters who prefer low-intensity and simplicity in their red wines. At $16, QPR is well below average, thus the rating. Drink now. |

4/21/2018 - ISOPinot wrote: 88 pointsRuby to slightly garnet, medium legs. Aromas of red fruit and spice: strawberry, cranberry, pronounced sour cherry, plus vanilla, light toast, oak, cinnamon and clove. On the palate, spice, cherry and cranberry persist, with occasional hints of licorice and maybe even fennel. Medium body, linear yet bright texture. Medium finish and medium plus acidity. A varietally correct, nicely balanced and complex Pinot Noir. Kept drawing me back. At $21 w/tax, QPR is above average. Drink now. |

12/24/2016 - ISOPinot Likes this wine: 87 pointsRuby, medium legs. Aromas and flavors of tart berries -- cranberry, raspberry; hint of spice -- clove and nutmeg. Polished texture, light to medium body, medium finish, medium acidity. Overall, a very pleasant Christmas Eve wine. As a $26 purchase at the winery, QPR is below average. But, a solid, balanced effort from what is becoming a key CO producer for me. Drink now or into 2017. Paired well with salmon and beef. |

6/7/2011 - AarsbyKail Likes this wine: 91 pointsBrick red color with a nose of leather and loam with a lingering licorice like a good aged Syrah. Well rounded mouthfeel with smooth, silky tannins. Thick dark fruits of blackberry and plum layered on top of earth and brambles. Not as much spice as I would have thought but does not detract from the complexity or joy of drinking this wine. |

1/16/2011 - AarsbyKail wrote: 92 pointsLong past its drinking window, this wine aged beautifully and became something greater than before. A honeyed, sweet but balanced aged white that still drank beautifully. I wish I had another bottle to enjoy with another meal. Bright golden color out of the bottle, a floral and honey nose very similar to a late harvest or sauternes white. Gone were the green apple and acid, replaced with syrupy honeysuckle and melon. This is the reward of aging high quality wines. |

7/16/2010 - benlisch wrote: 93 pointsRich, lovely bees wax, sweet fruit of apples and melon with some creamy cooked butte/creme brulee. The finish lingers enticingly starting with tangy fruit and resolving to cooked butter. I never would have guessed this was the same wine I tasted at their tasting room over a year ago. This blew me away with its richness. |

1/21/2009 - ParkHill wrote: 86 pointsSurprisingly drinkable Colorado (what?!) Port made from Syrah grape. Chocolate and raisin with a nice cinnamon-clove spice touch. Tannic support is pleasant if sandpapery; I'd prefer cottony. Not to be confused with an elegant port from Portugal, the flavors remain fairly primary and chemical at the front of the palate, rather than aromatic, subtle and explosive on the back. There is enough fruit, and with the tannin, so I suppose you could let it sit another ten years to see what happens. Colorado is not known for its wines, but as I said, this port is surprisingly drinkable. |

Cab, Merlot, Cab Franc blend. Nice characteristics of both CS and M, well balanced. Surprised at how well it stood up 6 years post vintage. Cherry/Blackberry. Well integrated tannins. |
