Al naso buona profondità di profumi di frutti a bacca nera, spezie e terziari di legno, cuoio e tabacco. Al palato risulta un buon equilibrio, rotondo, sapido e fruttato nel finale. Buon corpo. Ha forza e consistenza. Persistente.

mouth - lovely dark cherry fruit and framed by gorgeous acidity, this wine is still somewhat furled up and while it would benefit from additional time in bottle, it's already spanking good. the combo of fruit, acidity and its bone dry nature could fool me to think it comes from Italy

great price, lovely age-worthy wine, great example of how some Loire reds are severely undervalued

PNP. Oh dang. This is nice. Smells like a blackberry bramble & charcuterie. It's plum, not-quite-ripe marionberry, violets, roasted red pepper, and gravel. Plenty of acid.

Fresh citrus, good minerality and a touch dry. Light yellow very see through, and holding up nicely on day three. Trés glou glou; save for the summer months.

I think this is neither supermarket wine nor Cheval Blanc. There is a prototypical Cab Franc bouquet with powdery tannins and bright red fruits on the palate. The whole thing is definitely disjointed now but I think it will improve.

That said, this is not at the level of Baudry or Thierry Germain, and while I’ve not had Rougeard yet, I’d be very disappointed if their 2019 Poueux tasted like this. Next bottle in 2024.

This opens with such a beautiful perfumed nose it's hard to put down. Violets, other floral notes, raspberry, earth. Smooth but firm tannins, mineral core so that it feels very firm. Some dark fruits and spice, and underbrush. Fresh and easy to drink. A bistro wine in the very best sense of the term.

Lovely and food friendly with grilled herbed chicken and mixed grilled vegetables.

14% label abv but I suspect it barely makes 14.0% or is a bit below - likely labeled 14% to avoid the 25% tariff that for most of the time in effect applied only to still wines under 14%. Good times.

Medium ruby color. Aromas of black cherries and cranberries and a touch of tobacco. Ripe, nicely balanced fruit in the mouth with very good depth and length and well-integrated tannins. Juicy and crackling on the palate. At very beginning of its peak drinking period.

Plonk. Anonymous supermarket wine. Disappointing, and while it was only 25USD or so that I got ripped off for this, it's got the lousy margarine texture, etc of a 7-8 dollar bottle. Drinkable as such.

Medium ruby colour.
Is this slightly oxidised? I can’t tell but it’s enjoyable.

Seriously funky nose of apple cider, farmyard, and tomato leaf.
On the palate the funk continues with more tomato leaf and tart red apple and red cherry.
There is a fairly high acidity and medium - tannin. The finish is fairly short too.

This is a rustic wine with some real funkiness. I am struggling to decide between flaw and intentional funk, but I do enjoy the farmy flavours and tart fruit. Very different from Bordeaux CF!

Not to be confused with Antoine Sanzay. My understanding is that this domaine does have holdings in the fabled Les Poyeux vineyards but this particular wine does not go through barrel aging as do Rougeard or the other sanzay. Still an enjoyable bottling.

In a word, yes.

Tobacco, violets, cedar, raspberry and cherry. Fresh, mid-weight Franc with earthy tobacco and cherry on the palate. Elegant style, pleasant earthy finish.

A great example of a modest, refined Loire Franc with a 'ripe green' profile.

Restaurant purchase - translucent garnet with pale rim. Initial hit of acidity is tempered by a long spicy finish. The tannins are quite present but give it structure rather than detracting from the experience. A nice red to accompany steak.
