8/23/2020 - biggie Likes this wine: 91 pointsFlower day - Still garnet core and light garnet edge - surprisingly youthful in appearance. Terrific aromatics as I decanted - a fair bit of sediment in this bottle, about 3 tablespoons of wine left as the sediment hit the neck of the bottle on decanting. Nose of sweet tobacco, dark chocolate, touch of garrigue, damp earth, sweet basil, and just a hint of dark fruit - mostly tertiary aromatics. On the palate the dark fruit hits first followed in close order by sweet tobacco, herbs (both savoury and sweet), and then a bit of leather on the back palate. The dense tobacco and herb with a bit of fruit collect and stay on the long finish. Very enjoyable! There’s still some tannin left which makes it more for food than by itself even with the extended development. |

Floral on the nose with dense black fruit (mostly plum) along with worn leather and some earthy aromas. Plush on the palate with flavours of dark chocolate, plum, sweet tobacco, leather and warming spice. There’s some alcohol showing on the warm finish along with the dark fruit, chocolate and spice. Still holding up well - on the plateau but will hang there for a couple more years. |

The palate is also elegant, with excellent fruit and a touch of sweetness. In a perfect spot now, I wouldn't wait any longer with these! |
